" Be soft. Do not let the world make you hard. Do not let pain make you hate. Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness. Take pride that even though the rest of the world may disagree, you still believe it to be a beautiful place. "
He was relieved to see her gather courage upon speaking with him. Having another pair of eyes to focus on. âYeah, I can.â Snow muttered in a half sigh, considering how to approach this predicament. âHow longâve you been like this?â Perhaps he should have paid better attention to the news. There was always a chance that new ghosts in town would be the result of dead pool murders.
âA few days,â Ella explained, relieved to have found someone who seemed to want to help, someone who was kind, despite being a stranger. The calm way he approached the situation gave her the impression this wasnât the first time he had met a ghost. Perhaps he could bring her answers. She could only hope. âA few days, but my family think Iâve been missing for a couple of weeks.â She swallowed, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. âIâm sorry, I donât want to be a bother, just-- I donât know whatâs happening to me, my family,â she paused, lifting her hand to brush her fingers over her cheek, âthey still think Iâm coming home. Theyâre hurting so much.â

âWhaââ Laurel questioned. âI, so you, you died?â she asked. âWho attacked you? Why?â She bit her lip hard. âAm I the only one who can see you?â Maybe it was because she was a werewolf.
The questions from her friend were questions Ella had been asking herself. Slowly, she was beginning to put the pieces together. It wasnât a simple process, but the ghost had to figure it all out for the sake of her loved ones. âYeah,â she eventually replied, tearing her gaze from Laurel for a moment, sucking in a deep, shuddering breath. She didnât seem to think Ella was crazy for thinking she was dead, and that was a start. âA vampire. A vampire killed me. But I think so, nobody at home can see me. I canât tell you how happy I am to see you, Laur. Iâm so scared.â
taylor had been walking home from being in town all day when she heard the quiet words before she was slightly knocked off balance soon after. holding out her hands out she shook her head looking around for a moment, âdonât apologize, itâs all good iâm fine no harm done.â she said as she wiped her hands on her pants before looking down at the barking through the fence her eyes meeting its right away, âmaybe you should stay away from the frightful animals.â
The reaction had Ella fighting back her tears, wrapping her arms around her own waist as she distanced herself from the animal. âThey, um. They donât seem to like me very much,â she told her with an attempted smile, leaving off the âanymoreâ that wanted to follow. Her expression wasnât particularly convincing, the need to cry only continuing to build in her chest. âWho are you? Iâm Ella. Itâs - um - Itâs nice to meet you.â
This was certainly not the first time Snow had witnessed the presence of a ghost. After 150 so years the vampire made an effort to simply ignore most till he had no reason to, but this one was different. Not drifting with purpose and a lonely stare. Instead standing confused and just about terrified. Unaware of the ground no longer beneath her feet. Should he not intervene, the sounds of her gasps and soft crying would not end anytime soon. âDonât worry about them.â Snow announced from behind the woman, eyes filled with humility and curiosity. âItâd be best to back away from the dogâwouldnât wanna give âem a heart attack.â
The manâs words were met with a shaky breath as she processed precisely what was happening, staring at him with wide, tear-filled eyes. There was still so little that she knew about what was happening to her, and it came as a surprise that he even knew that she was there. After a moment, she took a few steps away from the poor dog, then turned her attention back to the man standing in front of her. Speechless, she brushed a strand of hair out of her own face, trying desperately to pull herself together. Then, she spoke. âYou can see me.â
A loud barking pulled Ella out of her trance, a squeak passing her lips as she stopped, seeing the dog poke his nose through the fence of someoneâs garden. He was not happy. Carefully, sucking in a breath, she reached out her hand, wanting to comfort him. Sheâd always had a love for animals. âHey, itâs okay, I wonât hurt you,â she said softly, a sad smile tugging at her features, tears in her eyes from being lost in her thoughts. As she got closer, the dog only seemed to become angrier. She leapt back, another squeal passing her lips as she stepped through someone with a shudder. âOh my gosh, Iâm so sorry!â She exclaimed, apologising out of habit, only realising after the words were spoken that the person likely didnât even know she was there.Â

Laurel turned when she heard the familiar voice. She didnât expect Ella to be standing just a few feet from her. She took a harsh, shaky breath out, as she stared at her best friend. âEl?â she questioned. Tears brimmed her eyes and stung to escape. For two weeks, she has been trying to deal with her grief of Ella. There had been been posters put up and everything. Her heart pounded. âHow?â
Ellaâs words got caught in her throat, head spinning. For a moment, she almost echoed the question. How? How could Laurel see her? âI-â As she cut herself off, she ducked her head, unable to bear the sight of Laurel so upset. Too many people were crying over her right now. âYou see me, how can you- I...â How was she supposed to tell Laurel that she was dead? She would either think she was going crazy or be heartbroken. Laurel had already lost too much. But the only other option was to lie, and that wasnât an option. She valued Laurel too highly to ever do that to her, even while Ella was such an emotional wreck. Clearing her throat, she attempted to pull herself together. For Laurel. She wanted to close the distance between them and pull her into a tight embrace, but that would be pushing her luck. âThere was, um. I was attacked.â This time, her words were quieter, slower, and her hand reached up to brush her fingers across her own neck. âPlease donât cry. It- Itâs okay, Iâm okay.â
A lump formed in Ellaâs throat as her eyes locked on her best friend. For her, it felt like only a few days since she had last seen Laurel, but listening in on her family had taught her that sheâd been âmissingâ for two weeks now. Dead, and none of them knew. Thinking she wouldnât be seen -- her family had been oblivious to her presence, and no one else had appeared to notice her -- she closed the distance between herself and her friend, arms wrapped tightly around her own waist. Although not expecting her to hear, she had to try. âLaur?â

Itâs me, SJ! Again! This is my precious, sad, ghost baby, and unlike Ev, sheâs super lovely and sweet. She only died recently, so sheâs still figuring everything out. More below! And like with Ev, donât be afraid to hmu if you wanna plot!
Trigger warnings: death, murder, bullying,
Ella grew up a happy child in a small but tight-knit family. Until she was 11, she was an only child, and her little sister only seemed to bring the family closer together.Â
She always had a special love for plants, flowers, and nature. Even when too young to know what the word meant, she knew she wanted to go into floristry, and little Ella would insist she would eventually own at least ten different pets.Â
Although bubbly and sweet, she was shy growing up. It attracted bullies, and she was too afraid to fight back. They were bigger, meaner, as bullies always were, but she got through it thanks to her closest friends. It didnât stop until she was out of high school.Â
Ellaâs biggest problem was always how much she trusted people. Still, she would give people the benefit of the doubt, try to see good in even the worst of people. It was part of what lead to her hard time in school, and it was also what lead to the end of her life.Â
They were older, beautiful, charming. They drew her in with smiles and compliments and fake admiration. It had to be a secret, they said, but she didnât mind. It was exciting. Someone liked her and wanted to spend time with her... who was she to say no?
What she didnât know was that they were a vampire, and she was just a plaything, soon to be their meal.Â
She wasnât sure how much longer after her death she woke. At first, her memories were fuzzy, but her attack came back to her quickly. Struck with confusion and fear, her immediate thought was, of course, to go home to her parents. Surely they would have answers? Even if they didnât, they were the people she loved and trusted the most, the people who could make anything better, and in any moment of fear, the people she wanted to be with. They couldnât see or hear her.Â
Now, she knows that she has been declared âmissingâ. No one knows what happened to her except her and her killer. Her focus is on her family and somehow finding a way for them to heal.Â
She hasnât linked the details of the deaths around town to being supernaturals, yet. She thinks they might be by supernaturals, that they may have been killed in similar ways to her... she doesnât suspect at all that the people who were killed werenât human.Â
I would love for one of the vamps we currently have to be the one who killed her if anyone is interested in a connection like that! Otherwise, send any ideas my way: Iâd love to hear them!
