Hyun is at the loss for words, a rare occurrence

-"Dad, it seems you’ve had too much to drink” - MC snapped shortly.

“I genuinely thought you could accept my choice. Maybe someday you’ll realize that people shouldn’t be judged on the factors they can’t control. For now we’d better go. C'mon, Zenny”

When MC’s parents first met her, they were reserved but not openly hostile

That is until they learned that Jaehee wasn’t just a friend

In fact, she was much more than a friend

The father was more angry about the fact that his daughter was dating a Korean while the mother was so upset her daughter was gay that the nationality of her partner didn’t bother her as much

Jaehee thought she might have to deal with this kind of reaction but not to this extent

Suppressing the urge to demonstrate her judo skills, she calmly explained that MC’s choice of significant other doesn’t have to depend on her parents’ conservative views

MC’s blood is practically boiling at this point

Meeting one’s parents is a very important ordeal

So he plans everything meticulously in advance so that the meeting would go smoothly

He wasn’t nervous at all and he totally didn’t expect to hear nasty remarks about his nationality

Now, for him it’s quite a bit of a shock

Usually making a good impression comes easy for him

Moreover, family is his most important value in life

Manages to quickly regain his composure but internally he’s panicking

Tbh I don’t get why stretch marks are considered unattractive. I was a bit insecure about my own when I was a teenager, but then realized the majority of people have them, so they’re natural and imo they don’t look bad so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The first time he sees MC wear something revealing, he gets so shy

To the point he refuses to look at them

MC thinks that’s because he saw their stretch marks and finds it unpleasant to look at them

He once did a musical on ice

It didn’t require very difficult or potentially dangerous moves

But he is very confident in the ice skates

Zen can even do an axel

Hyun and MC often go to the ice rink together (as a fun activity, not to practice)

They’re that slightly obnoxious couple who does difficult couple tricks together

MC’s number 1 fan

Goes to all their performances

And most of the rehearsals

Brings MC home brewed coffee because she’s worried they might get too cold

Constantly reminds MC to check that their skates are tied properly so that they won’t trip

Loves watching MC skate

They’re so gracious and elegant and beautiful

MC tried to teach him once

It wasn’t successful

Coordination is not Jumin’s strong suit (his driving ‘skills’ is the proof of that)

He decided he prefers to just watch MC

Saeyoung is surprisingly good at ice skating

(No really, it makes one wonder what exactly the training at the agency entails)

Modified MC’s skates so that they’re safer

Like they indicate how tightly are the shoelaces tied and whether the foot is positioned properly

He also put lights in them (because he’s Seven ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)

Loves watching MC’s performances and wants to try to skate with them

But honestly his coordination is not that much better than Jumin’s

Jihyun is more persistent in this regard though

Quickly learns how to stand on ice in a stable manner so he can at least take photos of MC at the ice rink

He’s always lowkey worried that MC might injure themselves during practice

He’s not that invested in figure skating, honestly

Still goes to most of MC’s performances (albeit with a lot of whining)

Trigger Warning for death

Yoosung

Yoosung came home from work but MC didn’t greet him like she usually did.

 “She must be asleep already, I should start coming home earlier” - he thought to himself. 

Careful not to wake her, Yoosung slowly opened the door. MC looked so serene in her sleep, almost like she wasn’t breathing. 

wait… A suspicion crawled into the back of Yoosung’s mind.

 He rushed to check MC’s pulse. Her fair smooth skin now turned ghostly pale; Yoosung knew he should call an ambulance but what would be the point, anyway?

He knew nothing would bring her back. Tears started swelling up in the corners of Yoosung’s eyes. 

If only he knew, he wouldn’t have picked up this shift at the hospital.

 How ironic; he was saving animals’ lives at the vet clinic when he could be providing medical assistance to the person who mattered the most to him. 

He was too late. He already lost Rika, and going through a similar experience again with MC was agonizing; it was unbearable.

 Sobbing uncontrollably, he couldn’t bring himself to dial the number. He just sat there, hugging MC’s body, wishing he could turn back time.

Zen

“No!” – Hyun screamed, waking up in a cold sweat. 

Nightmares have become more and more frequent. 

“But nightmares aren’t prophetic dreams”, - Zen murmured to himself, pouring himself a glass of beer.

 Still, that restless feeling just wouldn’t go away.

 He glanced at the clock.4 AM. Nothing good ever happens at 4 AM.

 Hyun contemplated calling MC but figured she would be asleep at that time.

 After a bunch of unanswered texts and several more glasses of beer Zen decided to show up at MC’s house. Somehow it felt to him like the right thing to do. 

Ringing the doorbell. No answer. “She’s asleep, idiot” – the little self-proclaimed voice of reason at the back of his head told him, but Hyun decided to ignore it. He always preferred to rely on his intuition, anyway. And his intuition told him to break the door open.

“I made so much noise, she must have woken up”,  - Zen’s thoughts were slightly blurry from all that beer.

However, the scene that lay before his eyes in MC’s bedroom sobered him up quickly.

Zen saw his worst nightmare come to life, and this time there was no waking up from it.

Jaehee

She had some paperwork to do so she stayed at the office late

On her way home, she decided to grab some cinnamon rolls from their favourite bakery to make it up to MC

The lights were out.

“Hmm, MC usually plays games until I return, despite how often I tell them to go to bed early, they must have gotten pretty tired”

Jaehee brewed some tea and placed the baked goods on the table, hoping that the sweet scent would wake MC up

It didn’t work so she went to check up on them, knowing that MC would never refuse a midnight snack

She carefully opened the door. Her girlfriend looked so peaceful under the dim moonlight. Too peaceful.

Jaehee always knew that there was a risk of this ocurring, considering MC’s heart condition, but she never thought this would actually ever ~happen~

She always make sure they took her medication and followed the doctor’s recommendations, she always made sure to use all possible preventive measures

This. Was. Not. Supposed. To. Happen.

MC meant the world to Jaehee, and after their death life lost all meaning.

The person who brought joy in her life was no longer in it, and no amount of grief counseling would ever help Jaehee fully recover.

Jumin

He always woke up earlier than MC to make her strawberry pancakes before heading to work

But this morning was different

He heard loud worrisome meows from Elizabeth, who stared fixedly at MC’s body

“What’s wrong, Elizabeth? Breakfast will be provided shortly, be a patient kitten, please” – Jumin murmured before fully opening his eyes

He gently brushed MC’s cheek. Their unusually cold cheek.

He called his doctor immediately, knowing that nothing could be done anymore, but he just refused to acknowledge this fact

The feeling of helplessness devoured him when Jumin realized there was absolutely nothing he could possibly do

Later Jumin set up a charity for SUNDS (Sudden Unexpected Nocturnal Death Syndrome) – the doctor told him it was the most probable cause of death

But it wasn’t enough. No amount of research could bring MC back from the dead

Jumin became more stern and cold than before he met MC. He could never love anyone like that again

Seven

Unlike him, MC was always early to bed, early to rise

He was working on a very large project on his computer in the living room, empty cans of PhD Pepper and crumpled bags of Honey Buddha Chips lying around

Saeyoung didn’t notice the time until he heard the morning birds singing

It was time to wake MC up so she wouldn’t be late for class

But she would never go to class again

Luciel tried everything he knew about first aid, refusing to believe what he was seeing

He blamed himself.

“I was in the same apartment, for fuck’s sake! How could I not notice..” – the guilt engulfed him

He could only find a tiny bit of consolation in prayer, hoping that MC could forgive him from Heaven

But he would never forgive himself.

Saeran

“Hey, wake up, already, you lazy bum” – he nagged, pulling the blanket from MC’s bed. “You promised to take me out to ice cream!”

“Don’t pretend to be asleep, you hear me? I won’t be afraid to pour a pitcher of ice cold water on you, you know me”

Zero reaction. Saeran’s threats were never empty, so the lack of reaction surprised him.

“Alright, I warned you” – he grabbed MC’s hand to yank them out of the bed. MC’s ice cold hand with no pulse.

“Shit. Shit shit shit shit shit! Hey, wake up! You don’t get to die! You can’t leave me alone, you hear me?!”

His screams eventually turned into wailing. Somehow he felt as if it was his fault.

“I’m s-sorry… What did I do to make you leave me.. Please come back, please, I’m begging you! I’ll never be rude to you again, I’ll even share my ice cream with you.. Just.. please, come back!!”
