Avery narrowed his pale eyes slightly at Hope, though the expression carried more curiosity than suspicion. There was an easy confidence about him, the kind that came naturally to someone used to attention, but underneath it sat genuine interest that was harder to hide. When she handed the phone back, Avery glanced down at the new contact before quickly sending a text message, checking to make sure the number was real. The second her phone lit up nearby, satisfaction spread across his face and he flashed her a bright grin that softened the sharper edges of his features. “So,” he said, lifting his gaze back to hers, “when are you free?” His tone was smooth and playful, but there was something hopeful underneath it too.
Avery slipped his phone back into his pocket and tilted his head slightly as though already trying to figure out how their schedules could fit together. He knew better than most how chaotic competitive life could become. Between training sessions, meetings, travelling, and expectations from coaches and teammates, free time rarely stayed free for long. Still, none of that seemed to discourage him. “We can work around each other. That’s also part of my deal,” he teased with a cheeky smile, his eyes glinting with amusement. He pointed lightly toward her as though making an official argument. “It’s like a double deal.” The grin on his face widened afterward.
Hope felt the familiar vibration of her phone getting a text message. She quickly added him to her contacts, wanting to make sure that his number didn't get lost in the sea of congratulations she was getting after doing well in her skating event earlier in the day. "I guess that depends on what the dress code is for dinner." Hope told him with a playful smirk. "If you want me in full sexy mode, I am going to need at least an hour. Lucky for you, the rest of my day is pretty open." She said as that was the luxury of being done her event. Now Hope had all the time she wanted to enjoy herself for the next few days before she started more intense training.
Hope nodded her head at his words. "What is your schedule looking like? I am certain we will make it work." She said as she knew it was only fair. Hope was just happy that he was taking it fairly easy on her. Hope knew a lot of people would have made her do a lot worse, if even only to have something over her head. It was all a big game with it came to people in their element.
