Long time no see guys and when I’m appearing it’s a freaking essay wow! And today, I want to talk about when we apply ideas, consistency, and a little bit of fine research to social media based artworks. 

Here in Indonesia, we have a talented, terrific sense of humor, and eccentric comic artist with pen-name tahilalats. (yea it means beauty marks ikr) He is the one who created ‘anjaaaay’ movement and it was a big, fat success. His real name is Nurfadli Mursyid, was a civil engineering student, who is more passionate in drawing comic and making this as his main occupation.

Actually, I think ideas, consistency, and norms are few of the most thing that apply when you touches your art with some magic of social medias. Tahilalats was popular back then with his tahilalats dot com blog. When he’s getting enough exposure to publish his artworks, he moved his platform to instagram until now. (Well I do agree that instagram has a better interface and no need to do something uneccessary.)

A fresh joke, a good humor, and smile in your face is more than enough to make the audiences laughing their ass off and keep giggling about it. Actually it is a good thing. You need some picnic when it’s necessary. Also it amuse me how tahilalats brought up daily life idea, adding a little bit of twist, making tahilalat’s comics are worth read, even for those one who don’t like reading comics. But, I have some complaints that tahilalats made his comic without some restriction to dirty and mature jokes. It is really needed to have some filter and filter those kids who are audiences of tahilalats. (please do have some observation about your range audiences because this era, kids can access to things that they really want to know and I think tahilalats’ dirty jokes in some posts maybe restricted to kids)

And the last factor is consistency. Tahilalats known for his signature drawing style, kinda like Adventure-Time-ish but with a local taste, more dark and less cutesy than Adventure Time. He is always anD ALWAYS making those comics with that style. Tahilalats also using his capability to draw by drawing trending topics in Indonesia so people can be updated by Tahilalats’ works. (But tahilalats often using some implicit messages and audiences should thought of it first until they get tahilalats’ message. Of course there is more factors that make an artist famous by his/her works (and I want to be like that lol), but I can know about pros and cons being a social media artist that deliver their message via drawing and social medias.
