Today my chawan was finally completed as it had gone through the firing process earlier.

The colors featured are raku red, turquoise, white, starry night and cassiopeia. The last two images are there to show you how glazes normally do not always look like the final color, it's also to be said that I placed three colors next to each other both inside and out. This chawan was made using the Western style of Raku pottery. The pottery is removed from the kiln while it's bright red hot, then placed into a reduction chamber usually filled with combustible materials which in our case was a tiny hole surrounded by dirt and filled with leafs and a trashcan to be placed and sealed over it, the pottery is then submerged in water about five (5) minutes later and then given time to fully dry and cleaned with soapy water and gentle scrubbing. The reduction process is fun but it's recommended to have gloves as it's also very hot and you can definitely be burned by this.
