Oh sweet! Man-made horrors beyond my comprehension

The first thing I would like to get out of the way is the set design. I absolutely loved how Kane went out of his way to build and make it almost feel real. The amount of depth and detail too to make it so viscerally uncanny and uncomfortable was perfect imo. Also hearing stories about how cast members ending up getting lost on set just goes to show how much effort went into making The Backrooms, well, The Backrooms. Lol.

The plot was pretty good and it had a good, slow pace to keep you on your toes the whole time. I really didn’t know what to really expect when I was going into this film but once the first half of the film ended with Clark being cornered by a Still-Life and everything going to shit I was literally going: "Where do we go from here???" and once the second half with Mary started to get going I was like: "oh my god.”

The horror really got me as well and the whole time I was covering my mouth with my hand in dread and wide-eyed anytime something scary happened. I also liked the nice blend of there being monsters in The Backrooms and The Backrooms IS the monster and I’m glad the film was able to find that balance. Speak of the monsters, I really love the concept of The Still-Lifes being the result of The Backrooms trying to recreate/recall what a person was in life resulting in a Still-Life. I could go on and on further but like I said I don't want to take FOREVER to type.
