I cannot help myself. More cute pups at the Mirepoix market.

#EBLGTFOA13 is turning into a cute-pet fest. I cannot remember the name of the cat, but the dogs are Darchan (above) and Gaia (below, with my sister). They are Bernese Mountain Dogs who live with their owners Francois and Julie in the Midi Pyrenees. The day we met them they had to spend most of the day in their air-conditioned lounge, as it was about 35 degrees outside, far too warm for those coats.

About halfway through our stay in Barcelona I began taking sneaky pictures of the many dogs I'd seen wandering the streets. On the whole the pups I spotted were either quite large or comically miniature and it seems as though they all had their own lives, independent of their owners.

But srsly, all I've done in Spain is find the highest point of a city and stand on top of it. #parcguell

One of the many intricate roofs at the Nasrid Palace inside the Alhambra in Granada. All of the Islamic interiors totally trump those done in later times by the Catholics. All the Christians could come up with were bland walls with a few lions and eagles over the fireplace, whereas the Sultans needed every surface covered with detailed engravings and poetry.

Dad, Jacob and Zoe walking into Plaza Mayor, which dates back to the 17th Century. It's filled with tourist shops, outdoor dining with fans that spray cool water, odd entertainers who either pretend not to have heads, or dress up as (fatter versions of) Spiderman, a bronze statue of King Philip II and a beautiful painted facade.

I read this Guardian article on the plane from London to Madrid, and was on my 19th hour without internet, little did I know Gillard was resigning as I was reading. The journalist who wrote this has given a certain right-wing Herald Sun columnist a European feel, let him now be Andrew Bolta. Also, the Guardian hast bestowed supreme newsworthiness to the knitting picture, placing it twice (in full) in the same paper. #auspol #jetlag
