koki mori

meet koki mori ( 森公貴 mori koki ), also known as the nocturnal hero: echo! he is 28 years old as of the start of my hero academia ( 29 years old at the end, 37 during the epilogue ), born on the 31st october, making him two years younger than hizashi yamada and shouta aizawa. he's #22 on the pro-hero charts; and jumps up to #15 after all might's retirement. along with this, he's ua's resident music teacher and occasional flight safety specialist, and is the singer, songwriter and rhythm guitarist for the visual kei band 'SHINIGAMI!!'. his quirk is bat, which allows him all the abilities of a bat, and the ability to turn into a human sized bat.

PERSONALITY !!

koki is a gentle giant, really, despite his threatening 'gothy' appearance. he's very introverted and even shy, but it comes across as aloofness to most people. he has a strong belief system that he doesn't back down from, which many hero 'traditionalists' find controversial, especially his idealistic views towards reform, and his outspokenness when it comes to changing hero society. his blunt nature and his dry, snarky sense of humour doesn't exactly help. in public, he's very private about himself and tends to only speak about his music or his hero work in interviews - unless, of course, he's on 'put your hands up radio', some how present mic always gets a little fact out of koki that humanises him a little more for the audience. people consider him reckless and self sacrificing, and his three jobs make him come across as very ambitious - which, frankly, he is.

some people mistakenly believe koki's quirk is a vampire quirk rather than a bat quirk, and boy does koki lean into that with his calm, mysterious nature ( and the fact that he likes to prank first years by drinking "blood" during their first lesson, usually just cranberry juice or some kind of red coloured tea - it didn't work, however, with class 1-a because izuku midoriya already knew every teacher's quirk ).

QUIRK !!

koki's quirk, bat, allows him all the abilities of a bat. it's a mix of physical aspects of his father's gargoyle quirk and aspects of his mother's spectrosound quirk. koki's arms can switch between human arms and bat wings with a crack of his knuckles, sharp claws for wall climbing, enhanced hearing and ultrasonic voice, echolocation, fangs, and joints in his toes that lock them curled so he can sleep on the ceiling. he has night vision and can produce draculin from his saliva. after the paranormal liberation war, he has a quirk awakening, so he can turn into a six foot six batlike creature which appears to be a mixture of a pallid bat, painted bat and vampire bat. however, he has several drawbacks, such as a sensitivity to uv rays and bright lights, low temperatures causing hibernation, and strong scents taking him out.

FAMILY !!

koki has a big family. his two parents, carol harker and rin mori, he never sees anymore, and he's the second eldest of thirteen siblings. he has one older brother, ishio mori, who was in the same year and class as hizashi yamada, shouta aizawa and oboro shirakumo and was part of their group with nemuri kayama. ishio, however, was killed when koki was twenty two years old in a villain attack. his younger siblings are hayate ( 26 ), yasu ( 21 ), kaito ( 19 ), kyo & kazuhiko ( 17 ), dai ( 16 ), koyuki & asuka & kaoru & kenzo ( 15 ) and yumiko ( 13 ).

koki also has three children: kosuke ( 10 ), hanako ( 6 ) and kurou ( 5 ) from an off again relationship ( which he blames on his rockstar phase ) and, as of the epilogue, he and hizashi add threemore kids ( akito, kotone & ryuusei ) through very interesting means. he also has three rats - soup, spoon and pikachu, two cats - tippy toes and murakami, and, after the war, a service dog called kuma.

FRIENDS !!

koki's best friend in school was anan kurose ( aka thirteen ), they were in the same year and class at ua and even sat next to each other, and an unlikely friendship was struck up on their first day.

he is also been close friends since school with his bandmates: hakuja aoki ( aka pit viper, 28 ), who is SHINIGAMI!!!'s lead guitarist and backing vocalist; mizuchi aoki ( aka king cobra, 29 ), who is their bassist and fellow songwriter; and lastly kuroya shirakawa ( aka stripe, 29 ), the bands drummer. he is also close friends with hachiro fukai ( aka ink blaster, 28 ), hakuja's husband; usagi tsuki ( 28 ), mizuchi's wife; and yumeto yurei ( 29 ), kuroya's partner.

he's also close to hizashi yamada ( aka present mic ), who he married after the war. koki has been in love with hizashi since they were eight & ten, hizashi with koki since they were seventeen & nineteen. that didn't stop them from yearning and not telling each other until the paranormal liberation war.

koki sees shouta aizawa ( aka eraserhead ) and nemuri kayama ( aka midnight ) as sibling figures, and also saw oboro shirakumo ( aka loud cloud ) as one before he died. eri is like a niece to him, and is best friends with his younger two kids.

he has two sidekicks, ken teashi ( aka blade, 18 ) and same kogeki ( aka hammerhead, 18 ). to add, kyoka jirou ( aka earphone jack ) interns with him during the internship arc.

koki's name comes from 公 meaning ‘prince’, and 貴 meaning ‘honourable’ or ‘precious’. his last name, mori ( 森 ) means forest.
