Before I come up with a way to prevent bots from flooding communities in the first place, I have started reporting them.

I report sexual ones as explicit content, and other bots as spam.

So far, I've found two kinds:

P*rn bots and macbook bots.

Lmk if you know any bots that behave differently.

I've also realises that I started this crusade with barely any knowledge.

Knowledge is power.

If any of you know about the botting phenomenon, when it started and why, please let me know.

Make your commiunity "join by request".

This way you'll be able to filter out bots more easily.

I started my post by talking about p*rn bots so it would gather more traction, then moved to declaring a crusade on all bots in general.

You said you were here since 2014? If so, can you tell me more about how this botting problem started? Any helpful info? I'd really appreciate it.

You're only gonna see backlash the more that post circulates, especially given how this site treats transfems as sex objects, anything with the words "trans woman" is censored behind a mature content warning.

Learn to use the blacklist and block stuff, otherwise you're just gonna sit and be upset forever.

I haven't encountered anything like that except the said bots.

Every site has problems that cannot be taken care of, but I believe the botting problem can be taken care of.

So, I started using tumblr before like a week and I'm having a lot of fun, finally aeeing communities that talk about the things I like is really nice.

However..

In almost every somewhat popular community, I've met upon a weird phenomenon.

That is p*rn.

I was so flabbergasted when I encountered it for the first time, I saw a post by someone with a sketchy user, that post led to a p*rn vid.

I saw it once and thought "weird.."

The second time, I thought: "why aren't the mods doing anything?!"

But after I stopped counting, I realised that the mods are actually banning them, and it's just that they keep coming back.

I'll use thia opportunity to memtion something similar, where bots swarm commiunities with a message regarding how they wanna sell their macbook..?

Of course, the p*rn bots and macbook bots are most likely owned by an individual who's attempting to reach a certain goal.

The p*rn bots owner's goal is unknown, but the macbook bots owner's goal is most likely a scam, slight chance of actually trying to trade a macbook.

Well then, I won't stand here and watch as my favourite communities get swarmed by bots and currupted into oblivion.

I'm willing to make a change.

But I can't do it alone.

That was the first time I heard about this trend, and I had no idea just how bad it was. The second time I heard about it was a vid raising awareness about the said trend with the caption: "'it's just a trend' no, it's bullying." And then I understood what the trend was about.

And honestly, I'm disgusted. No wonder why the meme culture, a sub of the internet trends culture, is hating on this.

Here's a hot take: this trend is worse than the devious lick trend, because you can repair damage to property or return what you stole, and sometimes the police can interfere, but you can't return the mental damage done to a person.
