No really, he's crazy about knowing anything and everything there is to know about planets and stars, graphing orbital patterns of asteroids, even theorizing how long a person could live on each of the planets they come across based on the available/previously available resources
Got his certification to become a freighter copilot/navigator, as well as being legally recognized as trusted source when it comes to tracking and graphing celestial bodies

After being laid off time and time again from shipping companies, quitting many others, and eventually getting fed up with the frequent job changes, Tonura finally decided to go back to college. He decided to continue with his studies in various Universal and Celestial phenomena and bodies.
Again, he's obsessed with space
Afterwards, he applied to be the Celestial Body Identification for Pony Express; and because Pony Express loves risking lives and cutting corners, in order to fulfill a certain quota of employees, his application was reviewed and he was hired (despite the fact that the ship automatically identifies and detects the things in space they might come across)
Now he's here in the middle of the fuckin cosmos. Away from his family for over a year, getting paid less than his pocket lint is worth just to do a job that the ship does for him.

Tony just forgets to ask how others are doing before he starts yapping about his day and the foods he likes and "that one weird rock that I almost pet cuz it looked like a dog"

Stacks things on his head constantly
Very outgoing and loud once he knows you or is with people he's comfortable around, but gods forbid he has to make a friend with no help/initiative from the other person
Unintentionally comes off as creepy very often; he tends to people watch/stare at people that he likes and want to make conversation with.
He watches and gauges the best conversation starters and sometimes buys/makes things for people based on what he knows about their interests.
Unfortunately the guy can't always put together that this. this isn't how you usually make friends

Swansea 🦢🛠️
Eirou and Swansea probably have the best relationship.
Not in the sense that they're super buddy-buddy and they talk all the time, but more in the way of feeling like they're very close. Like "fatherly advice" and "random ass life skills that you'll never use" close; the only one who could come close to sharing their bond is Daisuke, and likely exceeds the depth of Swansea and Eijin's relationship
Big Swans basically has two space kids now
Eirou naturally felt like Swansea was a father figure to him; and honestly, the grouch wouldn't be able to get rid of Eijin if he tried.
He started hanging around the man more often, trailing behind him and Daisuke whenever he catches Swansea teaching Daisuke how to fix things or how to not die trying to fix things

When it comes to friendly competition, Anya is likely the only person who can really match Eijin's energy. Do NOT let them play Monopoly at any point together, they WILL flip a table
It's baffling how these two people will call each other the most GUT WRENCHING, DESPICABLE, downright NASTY names whilst playing Uno, and then eating and chatting together like nothing happened
If a grudge is held, though, it's usually Anya. She takes Uno very seriously
They're always challenging the other on "who can do x, y, z the most efficiently", or "I bet I could get a, b and c done before nightfall".
Eijin misses home frequently, getting in his own head so much he's unable to sleep– let alone keep still– for hours on end; it's comforting knowing that on many sleepless nights, Anya is out in the lounge with an extra cup of tea just in case

Eirou and Daisuke are way too unpredictable and unserious; if you wanna get shit done, one of them has to be occupied already
They take turns terrorizing Swansea
Daisuke and him were bored one day, so instead of identifying the correct pieces of a generator and what tools to use (like Swansea wanted Daisuke to do), Tonura decided that they should instead get high off their asses on sweetener. Like geniuses.
The utility room was even more of a mess than Swansea had left it afterward
The old man won't ever admit it, but he was just as worried as he was pissed off when he found them on the floor singing the Duck Song to "the magic space birds"
With both of them being POC, they often make jokes about the other being racist for mildly inconveniencing them, which amuses but also distresses Curly SO MUCH😭
Like please save him from these fucks

Grant Curly🪐🧭
Eirou lowk has a fat crush on him looks up to him a lot! Grant is a pretty big inspiration to Tonura
Eirou often tries to learn from him whenever he can, especially since he is qualified to be co-captain of a freighter
Curly tries to indulge in Tonura's interest in the cosmos in return as well; pointing out different undocumented nebulas and making up silly names for them, making his own notes based on some things Eijin tells him
He even asks Eijin to talk to him in regards to things he's already knowledgeable about, just to hear his perspective
The way they became friends is a prime example of Eirou's tendency to people watch
The conversations they had with one another (and things he had heard) revealed Grant had an affinity for birds, board and video games, (though he's definitely not as competitive as Anya) and weightlifting which is something Tonura noticed almost immediately
So in an attempt to be friendly, Tony planned to draw one of Curly's favorite animals!
But then Curly found some studies of himself working out in Eirou's sketchbook; he needed practice and Curly needed someone to talk to while he did his sets
He appreciated it so much; despite that, however, Eijin's practiced skill of making himself feel embarrassed when everything's really fine comes in handy

Yeah these mfs do NAWT get along. Like they don't fuck with each other at ALLLL
Eijin thought Jimmy was cool and stuff when they met; even though Jimmy was always pretty standoffish and tense, they were still chill and even went out of their way to talk to each other on occasion
But when he got closer to Curly, and Jim saw how well he started to get along with the others, made a certain disdain build up within himself
He wasn't ever good with people; the opposite way something Grant had in common with Eirou, and he was jealous
The knowledge that he was more qualified than Jim to be co-captain really cemented his resentment– at least Tony thinks so
After some time, Jimmy interacted with him less (even though they weren't ever regularly chatting it up), and anytime he needed to, his annoyed, cold gaze burned into the back of Tonura's head
Eventually Eirou would return his nasty looks and rude comments, almost getting into fights with each other multiple times. Jim is aggressive and that scares Eijin, but he'd rather talk shit and get hit over not saying anything at all
