Eighty-Nine Days

It took a little while for the German passport control to check my visa dates, but I snuck out of Europe in time. It's been a wonderful 89 days (using 87 of my 90 allowed days in the Schengen zone). Next stop, Hawaii!

In Woody Allen movies, there is nothing more romantic than Paris in the rain. By that measure, this has been the most romantic spring in 100 years. Being in the worst weather in Paris is still better than in the best weather most anywhere else though, if you ask me.

From the Bings that brought us to the theater, ballet, and Corsica... A farewell diner that came way too soon! (A photo collage may be cheating, but I'm just trying to squeeze everything into my last few days!)

10am: Turned in my last assignment of sophomore year. 10:05am: Finished happy dance 11am: Celebratory trip to the Marmottan museum 1pm: found myself here, at this classic Parisian bench for a baguette sandwich in the park

Let them eat cake! (Post exam French class party)

It's week 10 and I just realized there's a view of the Eiffel Tower from our student lounge.

Final papers are hard enough in English... On the bright side if you are curious about the transformation of buildings in the paris worlds fairs of the second half of the 19th century, and their impact on the architecture and urbanism of the city, hit me up.

Greens, eggs, and cheese > Green eggs and ham

Also, new life goal: Own a Bed&Breakfast in Giverny.

This week in our architecture class: Bercy! Fun fact: Back before Bercy was annexed by Paris, it was a popular destination for cheap (tax-free) wine right outside of Paris and much of France’s wine was shipped in on the river and bottled there. 

The portrayal of women in Giselle might be even more questionable than in Rigoletto. That aside, the music was beautiful, the dancing memorizing, and the setting unbelievable. 

Classic Paris bus experience: After waiting for the bus for 20 minutes, I took it three stops before they kicked us all off. The walk home was a good excuse to explore my neighborhood though. 

Some days you just need to talk to your best friend back home.
