It became a new religion in its own right, shadowing the old gods, but people still practiced the old gods in private outside of the reign of Akhenaten.

And if you did not live the way of ma'at during life, your heart would be weighed in death at Judgement by Thoth against her ostrich feather of truth, and should it not equalize, your heart was devoured by Ammit, a shedemon, thus termination of existence.

She is also the one who breathes unique Ka into a soul, thus her associations with destiny

âMut, vulture- Motherhood; took the place of Amun's former wife, amaunet through time, and later associated as the queen of the nation; when Amun merged with Ra, thus Amun-Ra, she became the 'Eye of Ra,' the daughter of Ra in the form of a lion who embodied its heat; she is both mother and daughter of the sun; she is worshiped in many ways and forms.

âNeith, woman with red crown of Lower Egypt, shield and crossed arrows- Creator goddess, warfare, weaving; association with bees (her temple is the house of bees; lower Egypt) which are symbols of diligence; some myths state she spat into Nun and her spittle made Apep. She created life from the primordial waters of Nun by sending sparks into its inertness; she gives birth in a parthogenetic way, as in needing no partner; also, she was the opener of cosmic pathways, she presides over the unseen sky,Â
Nekhbet, vulture- Tutelary goddess of Upper Egypt;  a protector, and very fierce, she protected the pharaoh in battle, her focus of worship is suckling the pharaoh from birth to death, protecting him and even later the gods
