Welcome to Eightrose Month! A creative event all about encouraging fanworks featuring the Eighth Doctor and Rose Tyler.
This will be a month long event focused on the Eightrose pairing. The Eighth month for the Eighth Doctor! If you are already a fan of Ninerose, Tenrose, or any other Timepetals pairing, please come on in! Even if you are just here to dip your toes in and consume content this is a great place to get into the Eighth Doctor and explore a Doctorrose dynamic outside of what we have gotten onscreen.
Fic, fanart, fanvideos, moodboards, and any other creative mediums are welcome! Dates are officially August 3rd-August 31st. But you are welcome to add late submissions!
Rules:
Tag #eightrosemonth in order to be featured on this blog. Make sure any and all other appropriate tags are included if you have any content others may want to avoid. You may also use the tag #eightrosemonth2026. Tagging eightrosemonth on other platforms such as Ao3 is also optional but encouraged.
Be respectful of everyone’s work! We all have our own expectations for what is in character for Rose and the Doctor, but many fans might be new to the characters so keep all feedback positive. If you have nothing nice to say don’t say anything at all.
Works may feature other Doctorrose pairings but not other Doctor/companion ships besides the Doctor and Rose.
Keep Eightrose as the central pairing in participating works. Other Doctorrose pairings are welcome to be featured but ensure that plot importance, visual space, or word count is prioritizing Eightrose for this specific event.
There are 28 daily prompts, as well as three bonus prompts. Feel free to skip around the list. You do not have to complete every prompt to participate. Stacking is allowed. Descriptions are only for inspiration and clarity, so interpret each prompt however you like.
Now, onto the main part of the event!
Prompts:
Prophecy
From the moment he breaks out of a morgue in San Francisco, the Eighth Doctor has an innate talent for looking into people's futures.
2. Dalek
The Daleks, one of the Doctor's greatest enemies. Rose turned one compassionate with only a touch. How might Rose and the Doctor interact with them pre-Time War?
3. Reincarnation
What does 'forever' look like scattered across dozens of lives?
4. Undercover / Secret Identity
Saying you're time travellers from the future and/or past doesn't always work out well on adventures. Time for some slightly psychic paper.
5. Trapped
Rose and the Doctor get into sticky situations daily. It's an occupational hazard. Not every escape is smooth, though.
6. Out Of Time
Meeting in order may seem like the default, but time is a funny thing. it slips through the fingers like sand.
7. Time Loop
A core trait of many Doctor Who stories. Is it a bootstrap paradox? A never-ending day?
8. Storm
An opportunity for The Oncoming Storm or a cozy night in by the fire. Or both.
9. Separated
Sometimes being separated from what you love can make you realize what you took for granted.
10. Memory
The Eighth Doctor is easily the lobotomies-georg of all Doctors. You can't really blame him for being amnesia-prone. What has he forgotten this time?
11. Borrowers AU / Shrunken
The Borrowers are tiny people who live in the space between a home's walls and borrow items from humans to survive. Similar concepts include Thumbelina and Honey, I Shrunk The Kids.
12. Hanahaki / Sickness
Hanahaki disease is the manifestation of unrequited or unexpressed feelings in the form of flowers coughed up by the carrier. Different flowers have different meanings, and there are dozens of variations of the fictional disease.
13. Bad Wolf
Bad Wolf once touched all of time, empowering Rose with the abilities of a goddess, if only for an instant. What might the Bad Wolf change if she came to be during the Eighth Doctor's run?
14. Regeneration
The Time Lords' trick for defying death is pivotal to Doctor Who as a whole. It's certainly a big deal for companions. Rose isn't a fan, at first.
15. Museum
Museums serve as windows into the past. But when you've been to the past, they can also serve as the perfect opportunity to flaunt superior historical knowledge. A fun first date, perhaps?
16. Time Lady Rose
A popular trope in any Timepetals pairing! How does it change their relationship if Rose's lifespan matches up with the Doctor's? Or is he the one with the mayfly lifespan this time?
17. Half-Human
The Eighth Doctor, for his brief TV Movie appearance, claimed to be half-human "On [his] mother's side." He's the only on-screen Doctor to do so, and future incarnations are presented as entirely Time Lord.
18. Pirates
It's only a matter of time before the Tardis lands in the middle of the sea, isn't it?
19. Ball / Soiree
Commonly described as Edwardian, the Doctor would blend in perfectly at one of their balls. And Rose loves to see the Doctor dance.
20. Weeping Angel
Don't blink, don't even blink. Time travel isn't quite so fun without the Tardis. It's a one-way ticket.
21. Ghost AU
Not everyone can cheat death. In fact, most people can't. But what comes after?
22. Mind Control
Rose is no stranger to being mind controlled. Perhaps that terrible experience can help her if the Doctor starts acting...strange.
23. Garden / Maze
Labyrinthian hedges can conceal far more than you think. Like picnics. Or minotaurs.
24. Crash Landing
In The Night of The Doctor mini-sode, the Eighth Doctor's adventures come to an abrupt end. But while that may be his last crash landing, it's certainly not his first.
25. Wilderness
The Wilderness Doctor may be his title, but how would Rose and the Eighth Doctor fare in the actual wilderness? Especially without the comfort of the Tardis?
26. Hallucination
Sometimes the senses play tricks. Sleep deprivation, grief, paranoia, yearning, there's many reasons one might perceive what isn't there.
27. Multi-Doctor
One is bound to run into oneself in the life of a time traveller. Especially in the case of a meddling Time Lord. The jealousy, however, is entirely unique to the Doctor.
28. Soulmate AU
Soulmates can be joined by red string, birthmarks, color vision, stardust--you name it. When it comes to Rose Tyler and the Doctor, things aren't usually so straightforward, though.
Bonus!
