i want to play pretend but i'm concerned that i've forgotten how :( i'm not talking d&d, i can do that fine, i mean pure imagination bullshit. i think maybe if i get wasted it would be easier, but i also think that then it'll feel worse if i fail, like i'll just be a big stupid idiot.
i'm also worried that no-one will ever want to play pretend with me, at the very least not in person. i miss being able to do whatever.
Thatās so real. Itās unfortunate that pure imaginative play is stigmatized for adults because it was so fun as kids! I miss a lot of games in childhood and many of them were like thatā playing restaurant or fairies or plague or dolls for instance.
I wonder if maybe your inclination to be wasted for it is a kind of performance anxiety? Not sure how best to solve that. If it were me, Iād definitely try it by myself and sober first just to dip my toes back in. Maybe something on the slightly structured end like mudpies or something. But thatās up to you, you know your comfort and your goals best.
I canāt speak for other people but I would totally play pretend with you irl. It would probably take some awkwardness to get back into it but Iād be so open to trying. Even if other people wouldnāt be interested, I doubt it would hurt to ask!
