I recently needed to quickly copy about 1TB of files over from a USB 3 external hard drive to a Dell R310 server, and being the impatient person I am, decided I wanted to copy over USB 3 to save time. The internet doesn't seem to hold much information on which USB3 cards work in Dell servers, and I couldn't find out much about enterprise USB 3 cards, so I bought a cheap Startech PEXUSB3S22 (2 port USB 3 card), stuck it in, and hey presto, Ubuntu 12.04 picked up the card with no worries, and files were copied over at lighting speed.
