In this episode of the We Survive Abuse Podcast, host Tonya GJ Prince shares a personal story of reclaiming power in the face of adversity. She opens up about her experience as a single mother navigating a world that often labeled her family as broken, flawed, and incomplete. Despite the worldâs judgment, she wasnât going to let anyone define her worth."CEO of Me and My Son" was more than just a titleâit was a proclamation. A way to reclaim her familyâs narrative and step into her role as the architect of her life. Tonya shares how this title, rooted in self-empowerment, helped her reject societal limitations and guided her through challenges like poverty, violence, and misrepresentation. As an advocate for survivors of violence, Tonyaâs message is clear: women, especially survivors, have the right to name themselves. To call themselves queen, survivor, or CEOâwhatever title they need to own their power and survive. Through her advocacy work, Tonya empowers women to put on the armor of self-worth and fight for their own dignity. In this powerful episode, Tonya reflects on her journey, offering insights into the process of healing, empowerment, and self-love. She shows us that reclaiming power isnât just about titlesâitâs about embracing our full strength, regardless of how the world sees us.Tune in to hear Tonyaâs message of resilience and how every woman has the right to name herself and step into her power.

Your rights as a woman are not up for debate. You donât need permission, validation, or a committee vote to own your power. In this bold and unfiltered episode of We Survive Abuse, Tonya GJ Prince lays down 12 undeniable truths about womenâs rights, autonomy, and the refusal to shrink for anyoneâno matter how popular, powerful, or âgoodâ they may seem to others. Weâre talking about: đĽ Why no manâs talent, charm, or status overrides your humanity. đĽ Why you donât need approval from other women to stand in your truth. đĽ The myth of the so-called âgood manâ and the ugly truth behind closed doors. đĽ The power of silence-breaking, boundary-setting, and taking up spaceâunapologetically. đĽ Why you donât owe admiration, emotional labor, or grace to men who refuse to respect you. This is your reminder, your affirmation, and your call to actionâwalk in your truth, claim your space, and never let this world make you small. No excuses. No compromises. No shrinking.đ Listen now and reclaim whatâs already yours. đâ¨

In her career, Tonya GJ Prince has had the honor of encountering thousands of bold and courageous Survivors. With discretion, she shares one of those stories here. She was just a child when the abuse beganâhidden behind closed doors, dismissed by those who should have protected her, and ignored by a world that found it easier to believe in appearances. By the time she was a teenager, she had learned the brutal truth: sometimes, the people who demand your trust are the very ones who will betray it the worst. When she spoke up, her family turned on her. They insisted she was âmaking things up.â And when she refused to play along with their comfortable illusions, she was cast outâleft to navigate the world alone, vulnerable, and without a place to call home. This episode is for every Survivor who has been pressured to keep secrets, to pretend, to play nice in the name of family or community peace. We refuse. We will not pretend that people are who they claim to be. We trust our own eyes, our own experiences, and our own truth. We will not go along to get along.
