This is my latest full body portrait cast bronze sculpture "The Musician". I had wanted to make this sculpture for a long time. Recently a friend of mine, a retired musician who actually worked in Nashville with the likes of Jimmy Buffet, kindly agreed to pose for this sculpture. He later purchased it and honored me with composing a song about the experience. My newest work"Mountain of Grief" This sculpture resided in my head for 48 years! It commemorates the unfathomable pain my wife and I felt when loosing our oldest child to cancer. Over the years, these feelings have also invaded me when thinking of others' grief. Most recently, due to the invasion of Ukraine. I carved it out of a 250 lb block of marble purchased from the widow of a fellow sculptor. I Picked up my new sculpture at the foundry last week. The work's name is "Old Friends", after a photo by Ljupco Smokovski. The Patron who commissioned the work is from Ohio. He and his wife loved the piece... The foundry owner's comment: "It is one of the happiest pieces we have ever cast... You be the judge.. It will be on display at the Marin Artisans Guild's Summer Salon at the Courthouse Cultural Center gallery in Stuart, Florida. The dates of the show are June 8 to July 24, 2021.
