“let me start with the disclaimer that while i have taken self-defence classes in the past, i’m most definitely not a teacher in any capacity, alright?” eden fixes her roommate with a look. “i’m just personally invested, as i’m sure you can understand.” planting her feet, she rests alongside alva to better demonstrate.

really, eden can’t help but wonder, why had anyone thought that going to las vegas would be a good idea? even if their friend group has never been perfect, it seems like the trip just stirred up more problems for everyone involved. perhaps living in close quarters with fifteen people, who were all in varying states of intoxication, did that to groups though. especially ones as messy as theirs.

she lets out a quiet sigh, absently stirring sugar into her coffee. with all the hustle and bustle of the proclaimed ‘sin city’ eden hasn’t yet had a chance to take tamsin out for brunch as previously promised, but she’s arranged this little one-on-one meet up today in hopes of remedying that fact. plus, try as she might, she can’t shake the text messages that tamsin sent the other night from the forefront of her brain.

hell, if anyone is aware of how terribly messy their friend group is, it’s definitely eden. more often than not she mutes any group chats she winds up being a part of simply because she can’t stand how petty and argumentative everyone is– all the time. it gets exhausting pretty quick, to say the very least on the subject. everyone seems to have even more hanging over their heads than usual post-vegas, and eden is honestly looking forward to a little downtime with someone else who doesn’t thrive on the drama. plus, it seems as though she has a bit of damage control to do in the aftermath of the trip.

it’s early in the morning, far too early for anyone else in their ragtag group to be awake yet anyways, but there eden is, rummaging through the kitchen in search of something even remotely appetizing to eat. the downside of only being in las vegas for a short time meant that most of the group haven’t put too much effort into stocking food for the week, and the majority of the food in the fridge at the moment is various takeaway leftovers. in the midst of her searching, eden hears some shuffling behind her and as she peers over her shoulder she spies a friendly face. “hey, austin,” she smiles warmly. “i feel like i haven’t seen much of you, what’ve you been up to? do you want me to get you some breakfast? i’m not sure we have too much on hand, though...”

it’s early in the afternoon when eden finally decides to stop lazing around in bed; really, she’s been enjoying the option of sleeping in far too much during this trip. it will really be hell to reset her sleep schedule for school if she doesn’t make any serious effort ahead of time. with that in mind, but no real motivation to dress presentably and go anywhere, she instead heads out to the main living area. there’s already someone there, which is really unavoidable given that sixteen people are sharing the residence, but she would rather face literally anyone else than dj at the moment.

eden pauses for just a moment to give him a glance over, though even she’s not sure what exactly she’s looking for. “well,” she says decisively, bypassing the loitering male to sit down on one of the couches scattered about. “you look like shit. more so than average, that is.” of course eden doesn’t have much room to talk herself, still dressed in her sleeping clothes and with her hair quickly pulled up more for comfort than style. “i would’ve thought that you’d have the most fun out of all of us on this trip. it is sin city after all.” hoping to dissuade further conversation, she snatches the remote up from the coffee table and flicks on the weather.

if there’s anyone who’s opinion eden trusts, it’s alva’s. on most things at least, the exception being anything related to one dj nam, of course, but then again they always say that love makes you blind. in any case, eden is eager to step out of her comfort zone a little, having been convinced to bring the whole birthday bash to las vegas with only a little bit of heckling from her friends.

“so,” she starts, giving a small spin to show off her chosen outfit for the night. eden’s left her hair down, a far cry from her usual habit of pulling her hair up and away of her face, and slipped into a pair of black leather leggings that glisten in the light of her room. everyone’s agreed to meet up at a casino for a little party of sorts, and eden is both excited for and dreading the event in equal measure. there’s been so much drama plaguing the group lately, but for once she’s left all the books and stress behind in chicago and is determined to enjoy herself. “what do you think? be honest with me; is it too much? not enough?”
