Just being and just representing something you believe in isn't "ungrateful", "picky" or "high maintenance". Having your own standards doesn't mean they are too "high" or too "weird". Remember to not identify yourself with what others think of you. Their feelings are not yours. They will never know or be there for the past versions of you which struggled to get where you are right now. So don't give them the satisfaction of changing your personality and your whole life, just to make someone else comfortable for a few minutes. This isn't worth the years you'll spend on fixing "whatever was wrong with you". NOTHING is wrong with you. You're just living. You're just seeing, experiencing, talking, loving, learning, changing. Nothing is ever wrong or right, bad or good. Unless you choose to see it that way.

Remember that you always can choose the way the future you will feel. Only you should have that much control over your own life.
