You're right, and you should definitely say it louder so everyone can hear. Flags are meant to give unity to those who have a shared experience, and should be used by anyone who shares that experience and wants to use them to show their pride.

(All statements I made regarding OP's points talking about these issues are directed at beings who do these things, not at OP. /info)

Point 1: Part of what makes pride flags important is to show them off! They're meant to represent being proud of an aspect of your identity, so limiting their use seems... counterproductive???

Point 2: Heavy inspiration can be a thin line sometimes (see: the million clones of engagekiss and squidthing (I know they are problematic beings, I'm just stating an example) back in 2022-2023 mogaiblr), but it can also be a form of appreciation towards other fellow coiners! The subterm thing is especially valid, and I'm always bummed about it.

I understand making a term that's so dear to you that it's integral to your own identity, but, if others also resonate with that same experience, and want to expand it for their own, or others' form of that experience, you should definitely allow them to expand your label. (One time I wanted to coin expansions of an alterhuman label for labels beyond otherkin and fictionkin, and I asked the coiner if I could, but they said no. And while I did disagree internally, I didn't coin them out of courtesy and respect, even though gatekeeping expansions sucks. Still bummed about it to this day.)

Point 3: OH MY GOD, THE FLAG (AND TERM) DNI ISSUE IS BY FAR THE MOST EGREGIOUS. Listen, I get having your own opinions on discourse, and being uncomfortable with certain folks with stances opposing yours interacting with you, but PLEASE, let your flags and terms be used by anyone regardless of stance. When coining a term, you are giving an experience a name, and maybe a flag to represent being proud of it. Discourse should have nothing to do with coining, unless it's an actual discourse-related one. Keep shipcourse, syscourse, and other similar discourse branches out of mogai. If you're uncomfortable with pro/neu/antishippers, pro/neu/anti-endos and other kinds of beings with opposing discourse stances of yours, that's fine, but please, let them use your flags and terms, folks outside your discourse stance can also resonate with your experiences. Also, I don't think DNIs should apply to flag/term hoarding blogs, as that's literally just using a term for yourself and showing it around, kinda like the first point.

Point 4: I get rewording a post too much can make it lose its original meaning at times, but I think a bit of useful rewording for syntax can be useful for archives, ESPECIALLY if there's typos or typing quirks involved, which also leads to another problem, the lack of accessibility in nciomoqai spaces, and why plain text translations are important. Remember, accessibility comes over aesthetics. And if you don't know how to make accessible posts, try tagging blogs dedicated to it! But even then, try learning to make your posts accessible, even accessibility blogs get tired.

If you want to archive a term, but are unsure if the definition may be lost by rewording, try contacting the original coiner for help! They could give you a better explanation or correct any mistakes you could do for archival.

theres hundreds of brother/sister terms but very little sibling terms, theres hundreds of husband/wife terms but very little spouse terms, and the list goes on and on. It makes me feel sad when I try and find spouse related terms for a nonbinary packmate only to find wife or husband terms that have no spouse equivalent.
