Diva held hostage at Patti LuPone’s basement

When everyone was being verbally abusive to Michelle Gomez when she made a joke that she was going to put on weight in the pandemic. Or when people started saying she was vile because she said she didn’t like labels, whether that’s sexuality or whether you’re into leather and chains, because they claimed she was saying being gay was a fetish. She was not.

Or the time when everyone was attacking Miranda Otto and calling her racist because she didn’t post about BLM within 24 hours of the Floyd incident happening. She’s rarely online.

And then more recently the abuse Jameela Jamil got because she said that she would be working with Melissa Joan Hart and said she doesn’t believe in not talking or working with people of different beliefs because how can we change their minds? And the abuse coming was horrendous and completely unjustified.

The abuse Patti is getting on her latest Instagram post (and the abuse Kristin Chenoweth is getting for putting a heart on the post yesterday) is beyond horrendous (one person thinking they are @ ing Joshua, when he doesn’t have social media, to say ‘your mum has dementia’) is on the same level Michelle and Miranda got, again because people have decided to choose what intent they see, and often become vicious.

I think it’s very revealing that people who don’t believe she was being racist AND people who believe it was offensive but unintentional are being much kinder than those who have decided that quotes from an article written by a ‘journalist’ who persistently paints women in a bad light and writes to be aggressively divisive, despite how we are constantly told not to perceive nuance in written interviews when we study English language, is enough to decide they know enough to wish all people age 70+ to be locked away (yes someone said that).
