very layman but neighboring and same sign relationships (platonic and romantic) have “easy” tension with one another. it’s your same sign...it’s like yeah yeah i know your tricks, we’re the same side of the coin! so they can be irritating and relieving in the relation of yourself. you may not like them for the ego clashing but they’re able to understand where you’re coming from & vice versa. neighboring signs are the signs where although you don’t have the same outlook, you’re a part of the same process so you may not agree on everything but you help each other get to where you’re going. i would say opposing signs have a moderate almost somehow limited tension because you’re an old married couple, you know each other SO well and you’re the two sides of the same coin - same objective but different method. square signs have the FUNNIEST tension, i think alyssa once described the square aspect as being like aries/mars and that’s literally them. they’re always arguing and debating and calling each other out and if you want to be around someone who will get you out of your comfort zone then this is the way to go. inconjunct signs have the most bizarre tension ever. very strange strain of being close yet not close at all? challenges your comfort zone as well but in a way that cuts far deeper, it’s unsettling rather than fun. with the square you still share the same modality, there’s still common ground to the way each other acts, but with the inconjunction there isn’t any understanding so you have no idea how to react. it’s like you want to understand but you’re fearful to, makes you question yourself. it’s paralyzing! reminds me of the song lyric “i don’t fuck with your tone (but) i don’t want to go home” or as marina simply put it “can neither be with nor without each other”
