Week Nine

I have chosen this Reader’s Theatre video by 2nd graders at a school in the US. Readers Theatre is a fun way for students to improve in their communication skills, helps with connecting to a book or the chosen text, can assist with student’s who might struggle reading and offers students the chance to show off their acting skills and let loose for a few minutes. 

I would use this as a mentor text before starting with our first Readers Theatre session. This can show the students how they can join as a group and create a lively version of a play using a book their group is assigned. It can also teach students about timing, voice projection and assist them with working in teams.

Week three prompt

ABC’s Reading Eggs is a very effective resource for students and teachers to utilise in schools. The website/application contains children’s books, as well as teaching resources to assist with student development. For parents, there are pricing options for certain access and schools are able to sign up for a whole-school package. The lessons are structured and designed by Australian literacy experts, ensuring children are kept motivated and having fun.
