"new" Fujifilm 200 vs original Fuji Superia 200
Yes, Fuifilm branded consumer film is still available (ISO 200 and ISO 400).
Being MADE IN USA, it is no hard guessing who in fact is the producer of these films - Kodak. Still, I got a roll of the new Fujifilm 200 and wanted to see for myself.
For a ISO 200 film, grain is quite prominent. Colours are pleasing and not too warm, so maybe Kodak did some tweaking to the emulsion, or maybe it is just good exposure and every Kodak Gold 200 would have produced the same results. Sharpness is ok but nothing I would call a strength.
Back in the days (2018), I shot some original Fuji Superia 200, and below I have upload a couple of pictures from that time, so you can make your own comparison. The original Fujifilm is shown first, the new candidate second.
And another one:
Do you see any big differences? Grain and sharpness of the original Fuji Superia 200 appear to be superior (pun intended), but colours and exposure latitude are close. For now, I would consider the new Fujifilm 200 a good enough replacement, but whether or not it is the same as Kodak Gold 200 is up for another comparison.

ILFORD ILFOCOLOR 400 Vintage Tone
Of course I wanted to give ILFORD's ILFOCOLOR 400 Vintage Tone a try, so here are my thoughst after the first roll. All the pictures in this post are as they where scanned, without editing of colours, contrast etc.
One cannot deny that is has a lot in common with the Wolfen NC500, a film I have tested back in 2024. I would say, though, that the ILFOCOLOR is a bit better overall. That said, it has almost the same colours, i.e. muted red, pale green with a tendency to lean towards a blueish reproduction, washed out blue. However yellow is much better with the ILFOCOLOR, from what I have noticed. Furthermore, both - the WOLFEN and the ILFORD - show very noticabl grain (see picture above in the sky and the brown wall).
Sharpness, I would say, is better with the ILFOCOLOR. However, it is not really great with shadow details (as was also the WOLFEN) nor with very bright parts in the picture.
Including "Vintage Tone" in the official film name makes a lot of sense, it looks really as if pictures where taken 40 years ago. If you like that look, here is the film for it. Some said it is the analogue version of Fuji's Classic Chrome picture style preset. I would not fully concur, but one can see some similarities (very dark shadows, muted colours).
I see myself returning to this film if there is the occasion, it could be for travel or just exploring your home area, trying to find subjects that you want to have this retro/vintage appearance.
Well done ILFORD.
