I’ve noticed through lots of different conversations that an author’s most popular fics aren’t necessarily their favorites! I wanted to create this opportunity to let people share their top 3 fics by either hits or kudos, followed by top 3 fics by personal favorite (and share where they do or don’t line up!)
I will be doing top 3 by kudos!
1: Made Useful - This was my first fic I posted on AO3 and the first one I finished on AO3 too! This one did so much better than I expected, although in hindsight that's not such a surprise since I posted it during a large revival in the Jetra ship in the Minecraft Story Mode fandom, which was honestly pretty great. I didn't realize that was a mini revival until after the fact though lol
2: Weathering the Storm - This one also did better than I expected it to, especially since the Jetra ship was starting to die off a little again. It was mostly a concept I wanted to play around with, and now it's turned into a three-part series.
3: War of Hearts - This is my popular Legend of Zelda fic and I was a little surprised at that! Zelink has a lot of big writers for it and I'm ngl I was shocked at how many kudos it got XD
❌ 1: Accidental Romeo and Uncertain Juliet - This is for a ship that is slightly less common, but I still think this is one of my best pieces of work yet. I feel like I got the emotions, the drama, everything written so well, and I've had a few people tell me it is one of the best oneshots I've ever put out!
✅ 2: Weathering the Storm - Okay, I just love this one. It was so much fun to write, and I love the concept to death. Plus, more Jetra, which is literally an OTP ship of mine. I do wanna go back and make an expanded version though, because I feel like I make it even better :D
❌ 3: Reversed Calamity - I had so much fun writing this--if you can't tell by now, I love the "reversed roles" type stuff, and playing with how things might turn out if a different character were in a different role and things like that. This one didn't get as much traction as I had hoped, but that's okay with me! It was still one of my favorite LoZ fics to write this far.
Honorable mention 1 (since I suck at picking favs with my writing): Into the Woods - This is a fantasy mcsm AU and I am absolutely obsessed with how it's turning out, as slowly as it's coming along. I am really dedicated to world building in this one and as a fantasy lover, it's very gratifying to write.
And honorable mention 2: Made Useful - Even though it is super popular, it's not my top favorite! I like to re-read this one from time to time, even though I wish I had improved my sentence structure a bit in places LOL. This was the first fic I had written for both MCSM and Jetra (my fav mcsm ship) since 2021 and it was the first one I had ever actually published.
So there we go! In my mind, kudos don't make the author, although they are definitely nice cause I love knowing people are seeing and reading my work! But I have some stuff I've never even published that I absolutely love to just re-read to myself
