Before taking this course, I thought technology in English language teaching was mostly about using PowerPoint slides, videos, or online exercises. I knew technology could be useful, but I did not really think about how much it could affect the learning process itself. After this course, my perspective has changed. I now see technology as something that can make learning more engaging, interactive, and creative when it is used in the right way.

One thing I liked about this course is that we did not only learn about technology integration theoretically. We actually experienced it through different tasks. Looking back, each task helped me understand a different aspect of using technology in language teaching. For example, writing a film review helped me practice expressing my opinions and organizing my ideas. Recording a how to video with my partner was also a fun experience. We chose to do a makeup tutorial, and it made me realize how technology can be used to teach language through real-life situations and instructions.

My favorite task was definitely the podcast project. We asked around 10–15 people whether they would choose their heart or their logic when making important decisions. I enjoyed this task the most because it involved real people and real opinions. It felt less like an assignment and more like an actual conversation. Listening to different answers was interesting, and I think it helped me improve both my communication and listening skills.

The task I enjoyed the least was probably the infographic. It was still useful, but I personally spent more time thinking about the design and layout than the language itself. Even so, it showed me how visual materials can make information easier to understand and more attractive for learners.

If I could suggest one improvement for the course, it would be adding time for sharing and discussing our projects in class. I always found it interesting to see what other groups created since my classmates are very creative.

Overall, this course helped me understand that technology is much more than just digital tools. It can create opportunities for communication, creativity, and collaboration. I also want to thank our teacher for his efforts and dedication. As a future English teacher, I feel more confident about using technology in my classroom and finding meaningful ways to integrate it into my lessons.

🤖My Experience Using AI for Learning and Writing🤖

This assignment was actually more interesting than I expected because it wasn’t just about writing, but also about talking to an AI and then improving my work with AI feedback. It made me think more about how artificial intelligence is becoming part of education and our daily learning habits.

In the first part, I had a conversation with a chatbot about whether students should be allowed to use ChatGPT in school. I chose ChatGPT to talk with. At first, it felt a bit unusual because I generally text with AI. It responded quickly and kept asking follow up questions, which helped me explain my ideas better. I liked that it didn’t just give answers but actually tried to continue the conversation, almost like a discussion partner. It made me realize that AI can actually support speaking and thinking practice, especially in a second language.

After that, I wrote my reflection report and then used AI feedback to improve it. The feedback pointed out things like unclear sentences, repetition, and places where I could explain my ideas more deeply. When I revised my text, I noticed that my writing became clearer and more organized. But I also realized that not every suggestion is perfect. Sometimes I had to decide myself whether I agreed with the change or not. So it wasn’t just copying corrections it was more like working together with the AI.

As someone studying English Language Teaching, I can already imagine how tools like this could be used in real classrooms. Students could practice writing and speaking, get instant feedback, or even use AI to brainstorm ideas before an essay. It could also help shy students feel more comfortable because they can practice without pressure.

However, I also see the risks. If students rely on AI too much, they might stop trying to think on their own or develop their own writing style. Another issue is that AI is not always correct, so students need to learn how to question what it says instead of trusting everything.

Overall, this experience helped me see AI in a more realistic way. It benefits depends on how we use it. For me, the best way to think about it is that AI is like a study partner, helpful but not someone who should do the work instead of you.

More Than Pink: A Review of Barbie🛍️🎀

Hello Again!

Our recent project was to write a movie review collaboratively on Google Docs. I worked together with my classmate Edanur. (you can visit her blog here) For this assignment, we chose to review Barbie and explain its themes, important scenes, soundtrack, and overall message.

The collaborative writing process was not very difficult for us because we mostly worked side by side while writing the review. Instead of communicating through comments on Google Docs, we discussed our ideas directly with each other. However, constantly making changes and editing different parts of the text became a little tiring after some time. Even so, the process was still enjoyable because watching the movie and writing a review about it was fun. It was interesting to analyze the film more deeply and think about how to make our review attractive for readers. So it was definitely different from watching a movie directly. We also got feedback from our peers and they said that they will add this movie to their watchlist so I guess we achieved our goal!

In my opinion, Google Docs is a practical tool for collaborative writing because it allows everyone to work on the same document easily. You don't need to have sophisticated digital skills to use it because it is easy to use. We could all see the changes instantly and continue writing without needing to send files to each other. It also made organizing the review simpler and faster. Editing the document repeatedly was overwhelming but I think I can say that the overall experience was positive. I think this project helped improve both our teamwork and writing skills while also making the assignment more enjoyable and creative.

For our recent project, my partner Edanur Topal and I created a how-to video (@edasmixedthoughts). We chose this format because we both enjoy watching such videos and also working together makes the process more enjoyable and interactive. The idea of recording a how-to video about a makeup look was not difficult to come up with because we are both interested in makeup and often create similar looks in our daily lives. That is why this project didn’t really feel like a typical assignment for us.

The process was also not very challenging. First, we decided on the makeup look we wanted to create. We used TikTok for both recording and editing the video, and it was very practical since we are already familiar with the app. We added a voiceover to explain each step of the makeup routine and also included text on the screen to make it easier to understand. While my friend Eda focused on doing the makeup look, I mainly took responsibility for the narration and we did the editing process together.

To sum up, both the process and the final result were really satisfying. We learned how to edit more effectively and honestly felt a bit like influencers while doing it. Most importantly, we enjoyed the whole experience a lot.

Hi again! For our latest assignment, my partner Eda ( check out her amazing blog here https://edasmixedthoughts.tumblr.com/) and I explored the world of podcasting. We chose a vox-pop format, which meant stepping out of our comfort zones and talking to people in real life. We interviewed 14 different individuals and asked them a simple, everyday question, something everyone could relate to. What made this experience special was seeing how different each person’s perspective was. Even though the question was the same, the answers were surprisingly unique.

The best part of this project was definitely interacting with people. It didn’t feel like an assignment after a while, it felt like real communication. Talking to strangers helped us become more confident and improved our social interaction skills. We realized how enjoyable it can be to simply connect with people and listen to their thoughts. It also helped us improve our digital literacy as we learned how to edit audio records. Of course, it wasn’t always easy. Finding a quiet place was quite challenging, and sometimes background noise affected our recordings. Editing the audio was also a bit difficult at first, since we were not very familiar with the technical side. Still, despite these small struggles, the whole process was fun and rewarding. It also improved our digital literacy as we learned how to edit audio records.

As a future teacher, I would definitely use a task like this in my classroom. From my own experience, it not only improves language skills but also helps students become more confident and socially active. It encourages real-life communication, which is something we don’t always get in traditional classroom settings. Even though there are some challenges, like noise and technical issues, the overall benefits, especially increased confidence and stronger communication skills make it completely worth it.

⚠️ Think Before You Type: More Than Just a Post ⚠️

“It's just a comment.” Or is it? Sometimes, a few words online can hurt someone more than we realize. That idea is what inspired me while creating my infographic for my ICT class.

For this task, we were asked to design an infographic about an ethical issue in technology. I chose cyberbullying because it is something many students experience, even if we don’t always notice it. I wanted my infographic to be simple, clear, and eye-catching, so people could quickly understand both the problem and how to deal with it.

In my infographic, I explained what cyberbullying is and why it matters. I included examples like mean comments or sharing private content, and I also added practical tips such as ignoring harmful messages, blocking users, and asking for help.

I used Canva to design it. At first, it was a bit challenging to keep everything balanced. I had to decide what to include and what to leave out. Choosing colors, icons, took time, but once everything started to come together, the process became really enjoyable.

I think infographics are a great tool in the English classroom. They make learning more interactive and help students express ideas creatively. Instead of just writing, we also design and visualize information. Overall, this task helped me see how powerful simple visuals and words can be together.

Hi everyone! Today I want to briefly talk about the 21st learning.

Today, technology is no longer optional in education; it has become essential. It offers countless opportunities for students to engage with the language, practice actively, and learn beyond the limits of the classroom. Through digital tools, students can interact, collaborate, and access many materials, which makes learning more effective. From my perspective as a future English teacher, in the 21st century, integrating technology into teaching is not just a preference but a necessity.

At the same time, I believe this also brings a responsibility for teachers. We need to adapt, keep improving ourselves, and be open to new tools and methods. Teachers should develop digital competence and follow current trends in education. Because when used effectively, technology doesn’t replace teaching it supports it and makes our work more efficient and meaningful.

In the end, learning today is not just about memorizing information, but about making sense of it and growing through it.
