Take me with you || Harte & Bow

Hoennâs beaches were much warmer than the Pokemon Breeder remembered. He was at the base of Mt Chimney with a backpack, a map, and a Numel named Phlox. He was going to work on training with Phlox while he was still in Hoenn, but his mind kept drifting back to the map. He had barely gotten anything done and Phlox was tired.Â
Harte looked over the map skeptically. He had received it as payment from one of his clients after he had hatched a shiny Zubat on the first egg. The map was of Hoenn, but there were a few marked locations. One was a bit southeast of New Mauville and had Fabled Cave scrawled over it in readable but messy handwriting. There was also one north of Petalburg marked as Trackless Forest, and one near Mt Chimney labeled Gnarled Den. The trainer he had got the map from had said that these locations used to be really important but now hold nothing other than strong Pokemon.Â
How the guy knew that Harte didnât know. It was pretty crappy payment, but it would have to do for now. If the strong Pokemon rumor was true, maybe Phlox could get more of a challenge. She was struggling to grow stronger in this environment somehow. Maybe she just needed a change of opponent? Whatever it was, Harte had a hunch that what the trainer was referring to was somewhat special. If things got too tough, he could just turn to Thea, his shy Noibat buddy.
âC'mon, Phlox.â Harte called, patting the Numelâs warm hump to move her along. Phlox waddled beside Harte. They were going to find the nearest Pokemon Center and stock up on items - not that they werenât already prepared for an expedition, they just needed to be extra prepared.
As Harte walked along with Phlox, he saw a girl, short in stature, and Team Magma in outfit choice. Oh no. Oh no. Was Team Magma really in this area of all places? On a beach? Harte bit his lip and walked a little faster, hoping that the grunt wouldnât see him. However, Phlox kept with her slow and steady pace. No way was Harte going to pick her up, so he just had to imagine that this grunt wasnât going to see him very obviously sneaking by with a suspicious map in hand.
Bow huffed. She had made a bit of a mess in the base and was temporarily kicked out while they cleaned. She thought it was funny how they tried to keep the inside of a volcano so clean, but was still annoyed that she had to wait out here for them.
Luckily, she noticed a breeder walking his Pokemon down the shore. As he noticed her she saw him flinch and tighten his grip on whatever he was holding. âHaha!! Suspicious person spotted!!â Bow ran up in front of him and his Numel so they couldnât move.
She tried to make herself look as intimidating as possible. âHey! Whatâs that in your hand, huh? Give it to me!!â She held out her hand, expecting him to just place the map in her hand.
âI... I... Uh-â Harte stammered. Shoot! He had been caught! He glanced over to his map and then back to the Magma Grunt. She was really short... but probably really strong too. He had to be careful in this region where the organizations were serious, unlike the gang back in Alola.
Oh well. At least she wasnât asking for much of him. He didnât really need the map anyway, did he? For all he knew, it could all be fake.
âHere,â Harte pushed the map into the Magma Gruntâs hand and raised his shoulders. He didnât know if he should stay or run away with Phlox. Harte nervously scanned the area for escape routes, but the Grunt was definitely faster than a Numel. He was stuck unless he wanted to abandon Phlox.
âM-may we leave now?â Harte asked timidly.
