Unfortunately, I don't think either of us will ever have the time to truly be back--not in full force, anyway. In all honesty, we started this blog when we were wee teens still in high school, and unbelievably, we're full adults now (oh my god?? ew???).
If we ever have ideas, we will certainly make more posts and memes and stuff, but until then, we appreciate the little asks that pop into our inbox despite us cleaning off the cobwebs.

So, in honor of the complete and utter bullshit I did last time as a means of filler, hereās my ramblings on a local production of Jersey Boys.

I respect all these actors and the hard work they put into performing this show each night. Pre-Show:
I dressed up for this event. Why did I do this.
And by that, I mean I walked in with a red blazer and tie because I wanted to be immersed. IMMERSED, I tell you.
Also wow, theyāre gonna perform on a stage that I did community theater on. Thatās crazy.
Oh my god the set is so cool. (I wonder how theyāre gonna do the lamppost.)

OH MY GODDD.
āCES SOIRĆES-LAā WAS SO SEXY AND BRIGHT. I WAS HOOKED FROM THE START. AMEN
For a local theater, the set is really, really good!! For example, thereās no giant screen agressively telling me the season (nor a gregariously big lamppost), but wow. Top tier professional production.
Tommy is the most stereotypical Italian man I have ever seen. I want him to spit on me and murder me with a spoon. Please.
Heās also the tallest out of the four of them?? Which is something I didnāt expect to enjoy as much as I do.
Frankie is so bubbly and animated!! Heās so cute. AND heās tiny!! I love him.
But oh my god please,, stay still,, a bit sir. Youāre sweating so much. Sir. You must be so tired. SIR. CALM DOWN--
It also seems to be causing a bit of strain on his voice. I hope heās okay :(
BOB IS SUCH A COCKY AND CONFIDENT PIECE OF SHIT. THEY REALLY SAID āFUCK UWU BOB. HEāS TALENTED AND A HOE AND HE KNOWS IT.ā

His comedic timing? Magnificent. Do I pity him? No. Do I want him to step on me? Absolutely. Does he beat Mark Edwards though? Iām sorry, but no. (The day someone changes my mind about Mr. Edwards, Iāll make a whole separate post, and the world will probably implode. Despite that, I prefer this Nick a million times more than Blonde British Massiā¢ļø.)

Gypās mic tape came off during āMy Motherās Eyes,ā and I loved watching it dangle from his face during his aggressive sobbing.
āAN ANGEL CRIEDā. HAL TOOK THE OPTION UP AT THE END. AND. ALSO. DURING āOH WHAT A NIGHTā. WHAT. THE HELL. HOW IS HIS VOICE NOT BROKEN. IS HE OKAY? HE IS SO GOOD. MURDER ME.

Act II:
They all did their own special pose during the beginning of āBig Manā¦ā and tbh I thought I was watching an anime opening.
OKAY. I LOVE NICK. I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. aaaAAAAAHHHHā
HIS MONOLOGUE. It gave me secondhand embarrassment in the best way possible. Everyoneās trying to talk about the IMPORTANT MATTER, and heās over here WHINING about Tommy being a little BITCH.
His monologue just gets increasingly louder until he shouts āTEN YEARS.ā then he pauses and delicately plops into his chair to sit all politely. He looks like the cat meme. Itās so goofy.
Also, Nick being on the brink of tears when he mentions how he canāt see hotel soap.
The audience loudly groaned once Tommy said āhalf a mil,ā and it made my heart happy.
Bob was the only one with a toilet during the jail scene, so seeing everyone dramatically draped over their chairs while heās all scrunched up on the can was hilarious.
Okay, so Frankie being a hyperactive beyblade was definitely necessary here. He needs a place to put all that energy. HE RAN WITH IT.
āBeggināā had sexy spins. āCāmon Marianneā? Exquisite. But then he starts doing whole ballet turns during āWorking My Wayā¦ā??? Like, okay, Nutcracker and Swan Lake. I see you.
Bobās smirk when he says, āWhat makes you think they liked you before?ā š„“āØš
LORAINE. SHE IS SO CUTE. AND INCREDIBLE. I usually donāt pay as much attention as I should to her character, but this time my eyes were practically GLUED to her. Her leaving Frankie broke my heart into pieces. She deserves the world.
Oh, and sickness is cured. They all enunciate so hard, that theyāre constantly spitting like camels. I love theater.

The lamppost is so,, big??? Like, itās huge.
TOMMY IS SHORTER THAN FRANKIE. I REPEAT. TOMMY IS SHORTER THAN FRANKIE.

The dialogue is slower. Off-Broadway, they were speaking at rapper level speeds. But itās good slower! I can actually understand them LOL
(Itās most likely for audio reasons. A lot of the time, the background vocals tended to drown out the lead vocals/dialogue.)
An old lady behind me went āYeah!ā after one of the songs. It was adorable.
There were also two literal toddlers next to me. They were very quiet and polite as the adults yelled āASSHOLEā on stage.
During āOh, What a Night!ā (āAnd you are?ā) the āØsexyāØ lady just,, stuck her finger in Bobās ear?? And then trailed it down his chin and neck??? And then he did a lil gasp and was like, āBoooāhahāhaāoooaaaahhb??~!ā LIKE HIS EYES ROLLED BACK INTO HIS HEAD AND EVERYTHING. HELLO?
OKAY SO BARRY? THE HIGH NOTE NEAR THE END OF āOH, WHAT A NIGHTā?? IT WAS SO CLEAR AND GOOD AND BEAUTIFUL. I GASPED.
THERE. IS. AN. ASIAN. IN. THE. CAST. SHE. PLAYS. LORRAINE. (I donāt know if itās a big deal or anything new or not BUT ITāS A BIG DEAL TO ME. IT MEANS I HAVE A CHANCE.)
Bob (Crewe) and Phil start laughing after the ātwisted around her fingerā line, and it was adorable seeing them get back into character.
Joe Pesci: āWho wears short shorts! She wears short shorts! They wear short shorts! He wears short shorts! ā¦IĀ wear short shortsā!ā
Tommy and Frankie get so close to each other every time they have dialogue together. Iām losing my mind. Leave room for Jesus, yāall.
Scratch that, Tommy gets close to everyone. SOCIAL DISTANCE, BRO.
When Frankie sees Mary for the first time, he gets all lovestruck and distracted by her, and Tommy had to sing loudly to get him back on track. I love it.
Frankie just kept staring at Mary during their dinner. Like he was so n e r v o u s. CUTIE.
Tommy wouldnāt stop smirking throughout the debt scene. Frankie was on the verge of TEARS, and Tommy was being a BASTARD.
Nickās monologue at a slower pace is kindaā¦ sad? It doesnāt feel funny; I instead felt really bad for the guy. Like, he seems genuinely heartbroken at Tommyās behavior, and I think that intention is funnier than the actual lines.
Nick: āHey, I got his attention! Hi, Bob! *sparkle fingers*ā
Tommy and Lorraineās interview??? Geez, Tommy youāre like,,, seriously a douche. Like, I always want to punch Tommy in this scene but here?? I wanted to throw him into the theatre over.
Frankieās tone was so clear and so good. I love him. (Especially in āIām in the Mood for Loveā¦ā He did it so easily and flawlessly.)
I only just now realized that they use the toilets for the jail scene and that scene only. They have four toilets for a one-minute scene. (Lol The Four Toilets)
When the horn section finally came out, Frankie grabbed his mic and stared up at them like an excited puppy and smiled all huge at Bob. It was the c u t e s t.
Frankieās dancing during āBeggināā was,,, oh my gooooood. He was doing spins and tricks with the mic. He turned into a human helicopter. I thought he was gonna fall and die.
They changed the Neil Sedaka line and removed the New York team line at the beginning because the audience is too British to understand.
(I forgot what the Neil Sedaka line turned into, but the team one was replaced with something about Tommy being familiar with Jerseyās prisons LMAO)
Bob Crewe, in the deepest, monstrous voice ever: āPLAY THE FUCKING SONG ALREADY.ā
Tommy and Frankie do a little shimmy against each otherās backs during āI Canāt Give Youā¦ā I want to pinch their cheeks.

āTo my knowledge it was already shot so it is a proshot of sorts? But ofc with some cast changes and not at new world stages (or the august Wilson) so I think people are likening it to a Live type musical because of that. Also how do you feel about the cast outside of Nick?ā
Well, however itāll end up recorded, I think weāll be happy either way! Jersey Boys content in HD is enough for us, haha!
As for the rest of the cast (talking about the main four), weāve some mixed feelings. We already gave our 50 cents about Jonas: we have faith in him, but at the same time, thereās literally another Frankie in the cast (I believe heās playing Pesci). Like, heās right there. They couldnāt have given him a chance to be better known? Especially since Bubblegum and I have seen a recording of him, and heās really good!
With Bogart (whoās playing Nick)ā¦ Honestly, we donāt like him very much. I feel like I donāt have a right to say much in regards to which Nick Iād like (especially since Iām clearly biased lol), but heās actually one of ourā¦ not-so-favorite Nicks. But hey! Maybe heāll surprise us, especially since itās been a couple years since he performed in the boot we saw him in.
I was lucky enough to see Pawlikowski in the closing cast. I didnāt dislike himāin fact, I thought he was pretty good! I just wish they picked a different Bob. Heās definitely not my least favorite, but heās not my top choice either.
And finally, with Karlā¦ I havenāt seen any performances with him as Tommy, but I have seen him in the Legally Blonde proshot and in Pretty Woman! Heās a very talented actor, so I donāt doubt heāll give Tommy justice. But I donāt know about anyone elseās perspective on his performance, so weāll see once the recording comes out!
All in all, weāre still very much excited for this version despite our opinions. I have a feeling weāll end up blown away. :D
