Oh yeah if you watch the short closely, she’s clearly bracing for impact, 

then it hits her

but the force is still so great that she straight up twists and flails limp as a rag doll when the shockwave of her own self-destruct hits her. 

Also she made a water landing so as far as the defibrillator goes, you have to be really careful when you’re recovering from a near-drowning, because even after being safely out of the water and throwing up any water you may have inhaled/ingested, you’re still at risk for pulmonary edema–that is, your lungs filling up with fluid–so she could have really fucked up her lungs and by extension her heart from her water landing.

A week ago I read “Those Handcuffs” by LeftHand on AO3 (McHanzo ship). I recommend it. It’s my first exposure to the Soulmate-Identifying Mark thing and it’s pretty nice.
