I’m in the middle of a panic attack and literally this video itself helped lmao. My brain went from 0 to 100 real quick 😂😂 this is the most chaotic way of helping I’ve ever seen

This really works, and is great advice if you’re at home, but not so useful if you’re out (and you forgot your lemon!).  However, this will work with ANY intense bitter / sour / spicy / sharp flavour.   Top tip: buy yourself a roll of extra strong mints / extra sour candies / extra spicy chilli snacks.  Any flavour that is super intense and challenging will focus your attention and ground you super quick.  Also it can help jolt you out of depressive thinking and other negative thought spirals. Literally can be a life saver :)  

It can also work with holding/eating an ice cube. The brain gets very preoccupied with COLD.and forgets to panic.

The ice/water technique is also super helpful for kids having a meltdown or having a tantrum (I don’t love that word, but it’s the best I can think of right now). You can’t reason with a five year old when they’re in their “animal brain”, as my old boss used to call it. Get them out of angry bear mode by giving their brains something else to focus on, THEN you can explain to them why they can’t have ice cream for dinner or hit their sibling with a Tonka truck.
