🎨 El 7 de junio de 1905 fue creado el grupo artístico Die Brücke (El Puente) en la ciudad alemana de Dresde, un acontecimiento que está considerado como el inicio del Expresionismo alemán.

Ernst Ludwig Kirchner fue uno de sus fundadores y también su principal impulsor. Sus obras evolucionaron desde la influencia de Van Gogh hacia un estilo sintético, muy plano, con una simplificación absoluta de las formas y un uso arbitrario del color.

En otoño de 1911, Kirchner abandonó Dresde y se instaló en Berlín. Este es uno de los retratos que realizó en su nueva ciudad a Gerda Schilling, bailarina de un club nocturno y hermana de su compañera Erna. La joven luce un elegante sombrero acorde con el ambiente festivo en el que se encuentra.
