Ok, so here’s a brief summary because so many people have asked, and I think it’s ok people know. Kendyl has always had minor tics since she was a toddler. Over the last year they came on strong with at least 6 different ones going on at the same time, so I finally decided to have a doctor evaluate her. She was diagnosed with Tourette’s Syndrome. Her neurologist talked me into putting her on medication and it was a huge mistake that I take full responsibility for. The meds made her tired, messed with her memory, she was eating less and very emotional. To top it off, she was sick with a fever for 8 days over Christmas so she lost weight and was weak. Everything at Dance that was usually easy was very hard and she could not convince herself it was ok and it would take twice the amount of time to build back her strength. We stopped all medications, but she still continues to cry when she can’t do things perfect or if she messes up. That’s always been a thing, it’s just very amplified right now. She shared her solo private with someone else because there was no time for her to have her own, so it’s just not fair to her or the other girl to have her crying and taking up time. Taking away the solo is just a way to reduce stress for now. If she had her own time, we could have worked through it but there’s no space for special treatment. She will be going to therapy, and if she gets her confidence back we will revisit doing the solo again. She’s a very tough but fragile little girl and I appreciate everyone’s love and concern for her❤️
