For y’all who don’t know, irl I ride and work with horses a lot, that’s my thing, I’ve been riding for a decade now and working at my barn every summer since I started, I’m on my college’s competitive team (they’ve actually offered me a paid position as a riding instructor because of my experience)

I started riding because my grandad always had horses and I loved helping him out and spending time with him and the horses. He died when I was about 10 and I didn’t want to loose that. My grandmother just gave me a book he got me right before he died about horsemanship and he was in the process of going through and highlighting what he thought was the most important things, about half of it has been gone through and he wrote a note and everything

It’s been just over a decade since he died, and it still hurts so much, I haven’t been able to actually finish reading the note because every time I try I start to cry, I love it so much

I’ve seen people reccomend A Darker Shade of Magic because it’s fantasy! And Magic! And a tournament! But WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT MAGIC PIRATES the series has fucking fantasy world magic pirates and I don’t think enough people bring that up

(Minor spoilers from here out) The Ferase Stras was one of my favorite parts

The romance between Kell and Lila felt kind of forced but Alucard (a hot “not a pirate a privateer” and Rhy? Again, one of my favorite parts of the book
