Traffic lights were overshadowed by city signs; the roar of trucks, the laughter, and the flashes of other people's smiles were blinding you.

Zanka stood before you, his shadow looming over you like a protective cloak; he and Enjin were still arguing about the mission they had to carry out. You glanced over your shoulder; Riyo and Rudo were still chatting about the various shops in the city and how everything in the Sphere seemed different compared to here.

You felt out of place.

Why me?

It was as if being part of something as big as the Cleaners wasn't enough...nothing was ever enough. It didn't matter if you were the smartest, the most skilled, or the strongest; nothing seemed to suffice.

You always found yourself comparing yourself to others: to Riyo and her knack for making friends; to Rudo and his unmistakable aura; to Enjin and his way of making everyone feel at home, safe, and protected. Even to Zanka, who stayed by your side through it all.

You tried so desperately.

You didn't even notice yourself falling behind; as the others moved toward the van, your steps grew heavier, and you felt anxious, you wanted to disappear.

You kept your gaze fixed on the ground, looking down with those huge eyes of yours, the ones that so easily disarmed Zanka. Those beautiful eyes that seemed to see right through him.

You stared at your feet: the way your boots were getting stained by the city dirt, the untied shoelace you knew you ought to tie, and the reflection of the lights shimmering in the oil slicks.

When you finally looked up, Zanka was standing right in front of you, holding out his hand and waiting for you. You looked past him, and there were the others. Enjin, Riyo, and Rudo were waiting for you with smiles and anticipation. That was the family you had chosen...one that had accepted you, flaws and all.

They were eagerly awaiting your arrival, your presence, and the unique contribution you brought to the team. A feeling of warmth filled your chest, and you smiled; you took Zanka’s hand, and he squeezed it tightly, pulling you close.

Boyfriend!Kenma who loves to lounge about with you. Whether you’re sitting on his lap whilst he games or the both of you sprawled out on the sofa with a bad romcom playing in the background.

Boyfriend!Kenma who customises all of his in game avatars to look like you, down to the very last detail. The first time he did this was in Elden Ring, you had to do a double take when you saw an avatar running about that looked suspiciously like you.

Boyfriend!Kenma who gets clingy after a long day's work. Once he has finished all his meetings he’ll aimlessly pad around your shared apartment until he’s found you before practically smothering you in a tight hug. Boyfriend!Kenma who took a while to warm up at first. He was very shy and cautious - like a stray cat. The more you initiated contact, the less scared he became. 

Boyfriend!Kenma who has the biggest sweet tooth, it’s certain that he’ll nearly always get something sweet whenever he’s out. It’s no secret that he loves apple pie.

Boyfriend!Kenma who loves the two cats you’ve adopted, owning little beds in his office and a cat tree in case they ever want to chill with him on stream.

Boyfriend!Kenma whose chat loves you. Whenever you make a quick cameo they blow up chat during his stream asking how you are, saying how pretty you look. He’s even said multiple times how they love you more than they love him. 

Boyfriend!Kenma who made yourselves on his Tomodachi Island and was heartbroken when your Mii didn't immediately fall in love with his. He spent hours trying to make it happen, not creating any other characters until it did. 

Boyfriend!Kenma who never makes you pay for anything much to your protesting. He’s a big shot streamer and trader, he’d never let you pay for a single thing. Your eyes linger on a cute keychain? He’s already grabbing it and buying it. You mention that you’ve been craving tiramisu? He’s already on his way to buy you some. 

Boyfriend!Kenma whose setup is filled with your little knick knacks. Some cute stickers you found and then placed on his microphone and headset, little figures from an anime you like which are now littered across his desk and one of his monitors solely dedicated to you. 

Boyfriend!Kenma who has a prismatic Umbreon pokemon card in the back of his phone case to match with your prismatic Espeon pokemon card. He’s more than happy to match with you all the time

Boyfriend!Kenma whose friends freaked out after finding out that he had a girlfriend. They were shocked that a League of Legends player had interacted with a girl, let alone touched one.

Boyfriend!Kenma who has a Minecraft server with his friends and you. He won’t give any of his resources to his friends, but for you, he goes out of his way to get you your favourite flowers and speedruns to get ancient debris for you.
