Watching Me and Thee to cope with it all, and I'm rotating Peach in my mind about why he doesn't bother me despite slotting into the "noble poor" archetype.
I've decided it is because he is a character who is content with his life and doesn't desire more, and nothing in the show really contradicts this.
Typically when people try to cram a character into the noble poor archetype, it doesn't fully work because the character in question has desires which would benefit from money.
For example, K-Dramas often have a character be positioned as a noble poor but needs money so they take some random job (such as college tuition or hospital bills). Another example, and my favorite one, is Porsche who is routinely shown to want money and material possessions but gets crammed into a noble poor archetype by the fandom for some random reason.
Peach? He doesn't desire much in terms of money and material possessions. Mainly because he achieved it. He worked to get a good job with a good reputation so he could take care of his sister, and we meet him when he achieved it. In a way, we meet him when one of his character arcs is completed.
The thing Peach desires is something money can't fulfill, which is companionship (not even sexually or romantically).
I don't know, I think it is cool to finally have a character who I can point to and go "See? This is how you do the noble poor archetype".
