Anyway, can anyone explain why Australia seems to be deprived of the luxury of tampon applicators?? 

It was very bad when I was little, it is much better now due to years of speech therapy when my neural pathways were young and unformed. Most people with a stutter may be bothered with me saying that I have a stutter because 90% of the time I do not stutter. Some people I know have never seen me stutter. But when I am excited, nervous or anxious, it comes out. Especially when I meet new people. So when I meet new people, I am a little nervous because I am very introverted. This makes me more likely to stutter. And then because I'm worried about stuttering and making a fool of myself, I get more nervous. Sometimes my stutter is as subtle as repeating a consonant a couple of times. Sometimes I am a mess of contorted faces and salivation just trying to get a word out (especially the vowels), unable to control my mouth. I know what it's like to pull neck muscles trying to fight a stutter. Anyway, I know most people probably don't even notice, but it is something that really adds to my anxiety. I literally sweat on the phone to new people, I cannot bear to give public speeches, I am utterly self conscious about accidentally spitting on anyone I talk to and I have to force myself not to get too passionate about things to people I don't know well. This is on top of my generalised anxiety. So you can imagine what some people go through who have more of a stutter than me. Anyway I just wanted to shout out to people with speech impediments, because it has always been the butt of jokes, it has always automatically made a person "weird" and "funny". So shout out to you, for having to deal with people imitating you (personally or your impediment in general), having to deal with bullying and feeling alienated over something you can't control and doesn't define who you are, and still having the strength to deal with everything else in your life.
