Duppy 78 is beautifully realized, with luscious visuals and a daring desire to do something different and disturbing with the unique voice that sequential art offers.
Duppy ’78 is currently available only as a digital comic which, with all due respect to those who enjoy their comics in that format, is something of a shame. This book certainly deserves a physical collection as well. A wild, unruly ride into a hallucinatory urban shadowland, Duppy ’78will take you back to the pre-Vertigo days of Alan Moore’s Swamp Thing and Jamie Delano’sHellblazer. Taut, gut-wrenching horror with a lurking malignancy at its core, it once again underlines the ever unpredictable nature of the Com.x publishing philosophy.

Duppy ’78 is one of the stronger horror/crime titles to hit the stands recently, and I would highly suggest you take a look at it. Casey Seijas and Amancay Nahuelpan did a great job from beginning to end, and hopefully they team up together for another story that’s as good as this one in the future!

"The spirits are drawn to rich effect by Amancay Nahuelpan, whose approach is reminiscent of artist Eduardo Risso — Risso’s work on Vertigo’s long-running urban crime drama100 Bullets definitely seems to have had an impact on Nauelpan’s action sequences....with Nahuelpan augmenting an already palpable air of witchery via pooling blood and a backdrop of black fluid swirls that mirror late 1960s-era West Coast psychedelic concert poster art."
Writer Dominic Umile takes a deep dive into the landscape of late '70s Jamaica and how it relates to Duppy '78. A fantastic, well-researched article.
