“I’ll make sure you do forget.” Playful banter is never really any problems. Besides, it’s his own way of showing some kind of affection towards Hatsuharu.
The two walk through the city, not sure if the walk through Cotes was for taking a little detour around… or he was genuinely lost. He would LOVE to point that out and question the other, maybe tease him a bit on how he manage to get the two of them lost, but he’ll refrain for now, squeezing the other’s hand affectionately as the finally made it to the locations.
A small pastry shop hidden from view, a place that the hero didn’t even know about. Interesting, and a good choice of a place to snack on. It took a moment for Monoma to realize he had a smile over his lips, a genuine smile that wasn’t mischievous or playful as he made his way inside the shop and looked around. It was a small place, very much to the hero’s taste. Monoma lead them to an empty seat just for the two of them as he scanned the area.
“I must say, I didn’t know a little place like this even exists. You must have had some trouble finding this place a first, hm?”
“I kinda found it by accident.”
Truth is, he’d walked in to ask the cashier for directions and only then realised he’d set foot in the type of fancy patisserie place which appealed to Neito’s high end tastes. He’d then logged the location onto his phone so he could bring them there together some time and with Neito’s birthday just around the corner, it was more or less perfect timing.
Haru takes a seat in front of the birthday boy and gently reaches over the table to interlace their fingers. He could stare all day at Neito when he smiles like that, he likes the weird, face splitting manic smile too, but there’s something about Neito’s real smile that makes his heart drum a mile a minute inside his chest.
Turning his head towards the lady behind the counter, he gives her a nod and from behind the screen of cakes she brings out a medium sized cupcake piled sky high in Belgian chocolate icing butter with two candles planted on top making the number 18. Haru refrains from singing as she brings the birthday cupcake over and settles it on the table between them.
“Happy birthday Neito, don’t eat yet.”
Haru digs into his pockets and pulls out a tiny pack of heart shaped edible confetti which he sprinkles proudly over the icing.
