Oof, long story. Basically this is Mike from movieverse, not Michael Afton (though it would be really interesting to see how he'd react to "oh fuck it's happening again... 🤔)

Basically, Abby died at the Pizzaplex due to Gregory/Freddy mistakenly attacking her. Mike tries to sue Fazbear Entertainment, not because he even gives a fuck about money at that point, but because he wants them to at least face some kind of punishment. Except, it turns out, Fazbear Entertainment is hemorrhaging money due to the astronomical costs and the bad press. So instead Mike gets offered company assets in damages. Which includes the Pizzaplex. Mike does NOT want to own the place that killed his little sister, but is forced to at least check it out before rejecting.

That's when he discovers Abby is still there, haunting Glamrock Chica. So Mike accepts the deal out of desperation to "get Abby back". She promptly tells him about the other ghosts (largely to stop him from trying to throw Freddy into the trash compactor) but the kids refuse to tell him who murdered them. If Mike finds out, he'll definitely get Vanessa arrested. But the kids don't want that. They want revenge personally. So Mike knows the animatronics are haunted by murdered kids, but doesn't know the identity of the murderer. The kids also don't want to be found until they've gotten their revenge, so they get extremely aggressive whenever anyone gets close. If Mike told the police to check the animatronics, there would be casualties. And he'd lose Abby. So he can't bring himself to do it.

If that's the case then that would mean he dies and Cassie now sees his ghost, he can see her ghost, now he knows she's dead, all of his efforts were in vain, he's heartbroken, but he can't even reunite with her in death because she's terrified out of her mind because again —the mask is part of his ghost now which makes him look like her murderer— which makes her not recognize her own father.

But don't even get me started on the rest of the kids.

Yeah, Jeremy didn't die near any (uninhabited) robots, so instead, his soul/remnant latched onto the VANNI mask he was wearing. Even as a ghost, he can't take it off, because it's literally the thing tethering him to the living world. He's a lot less powerful than the children, since he doesn't have a proper body, but also therefore isn't held back by doors and lights. I imagine he'd function like this world's Golden Freddy, occasionally just sort of manifesting in the office (because yeah he is definitely also after Vanessa for what she did).

Except since he's so much less "there", every time he manages to manifest, it's a choice: Does he use his precious time to try and comfort his little girl, or go after the person who took her from him?

He's tried. She doesn't recognise him.

I mean, it's one thing to kill a kid, it's a whole different situation when you have to see their heartbroken clueless parent looking for them at your workplace everyday and only you know what happened to their child because YOU caused the child's death

Holy shit I didn't even think of that...

The guilt she'd have is insane, not just being aware the animatronics are haunted and the kids are dead because of her, but also knowing that this guy is so close to his "missing" daughter and doesn't even realise it. Even worse if Cassie is trying to communicate with him, but he refuses to even look at her because he just sees Roxy, and that was his daughter's favourite so it's too painful. So she just keeps getting rejected and shut out. And all the while Vanessa is there, fully aware but unable to tell him because then what?

Or even worse...

Mike (as the new manager) refuses to let anyone do "deep maintenance" (anything that involves opening more than extremities) on the animatronics because they get extremely hostile whenever anyone is at risk of finding and taking away their kids. But what if—if Cassie's dad is Jeremy/Bonnie Bully—he remembers the 80s and MCI? So he starts getting the nagging fear that what happened back then might've happened again. So he sneaks in after hours and tries to open up Roxy to check.

Except, since he's doing maintenance work, he's wearing his VANNI mask.

Which makes him look like Vanny.

Which makes Cassie...

Vanessa - The nightguard and unwilling serial killer responsible for the Second Missing Children Incident. Despite being fully aware that the animatronics are haunted and hunting her at night, she stays on duty to ensure they don’t escape and harm others, feeling it’s her punishment.

Mike - After losing Abby to the haunted animatronics of the Pizzaplex he sued Fazbear entertainment, only to discover they’re hemorrhaging money. He’s offered the Pizzaplex instead and accepts it upon discovering Abby haunts it. He's the only one who can safely interact with the animatronics, even at night, because Abby protects him.
