★     With a slight tilt of her head, half lidded eyes gave a double         blink. It was handy to have an acquaintance in a new region,          however Luna was more or less taken back just by how          willing she’d been!          ❝Mmn, choosing a favourite Pokemon is hard, and in a way it            almost feels unfair. So I understand that. I’m curious what            sorts of companions you have on your team, though. ❞

        Brushing a lock of hair from her face, Luna’s eyes darted to         the side. 

        ❝'Trading numbers would be b-beneficial… I’m pleased to meet            you Mei, I’m called Luna.❞

   Shy, maybe? Or perhaps her hands freaked her out a little. Mei’s hand hangs there for a moment before eventually retracting. Showing no outward sign of being bothered by it, she reaches for the phone in her pocket and starts fiddling with it.

Elesa chuckled but wrapped an arm around Mei, shaking her head as the laughter began to settle. “You’ve always been a master of the arts the jokes.” 

“And thank you, I shall store that away for a special occasion.” she spoke, her lips pulling up into a smile. “So tell, me what brings you back here? And how have you been? I feel like I haven’t seen you in so long.” 

   “The one and only! You have good taste, Elesa.” She dusts off her shoulder in exaggerated pride before tucking her hands behind her back. “You’re always welcome.”

   It had been a while since they’d last met up, though mostly because they both have their own career opportunities and personal lives to attend to. Things can get pretty busy.

   “To see you, of course! Well, I also wanted to visit the Big Stadium at some point too...” Going too long without soccer is just unbearable! “I’ve been good--- just finished shooting for a TV show a few days ago. I was only a minor, temporary character but it was fun... Nice to have time off though, jeez.” Mei hunches forward, sighing before fixing up her posture and smiling her usual smile. She wouldn’t admit it to Elesa openly but she missed the cast members and working on their set. One day she’d love to get a main role again and see a story through to the end.

          he’s about to REFUTE— — ( what nonsense that she would feel needed subjection of herself to a life’s debt to him.   for if it weren’t for her   /   if it weren’t for her …   /   … …   /   he couldn’t bear to even think about it. )— — - - when friday presses against him, familiar warmth && scent   /   constant among variables   /  ❛  for gods, has unova changed so much in two years   /   ——&& he loses track of thought for the duration of his friend’s embrace.

          .  . . so this is how you feel, friday.   yes, you’re right——we will always be best friends.

          ——&& when they part   ( as all things do && must )   he is smiling.

          ❛ t———there is one thing. ❜   a pause, suspense wrought from words.   ❛ i’ve never tried a casteliacone before. it’s the right time of the year for one, isn’t it … ? ❜

   Seeing his friend smile prompts a toothy grin from Friday in return.

   I love you...

   “Yeah?” So there is something N wants. That’s surprising... What could it be? The pair lean forward in anticipation, both eager to fulfill whatever the request might be.

   A... casteliacone? Talk about anticlimactic, yet seriously endearing. She did say anything. Mei breaks out in laughter, getting back her usual upbeat attitude pretty quickly.

   “Not even one after all this time? I guess you really are missing out--- I’ll have to be the one to save you.” She walks backwards, gesturing for the others to follow. “I’ll buy you a casteliacone then. I bet you want one too, right, Friday?” 

   The Zoroark nods eagerly and within the span of time that it’d take to blink, he didn’t appear to be a Zoroark any longer. It’s no ordinary disguise of a random passerby but a specially crafted one just for him.

   Claws like his own can’t hold ice cream cones but human hands sure can! Human hands can also do this!

★      Well, that certainly made sense! It wasn’t like travelling so           far out to a place like Alola was exactly common. Giving a           slight nod in understanding shortly after.          ❝That’s fair. This is my first time in Unova… I can already           see how lovely it is. There are so many Pokemon I’ve never           heard of before. It’s a little overwhelming.❞

        ❝It’s difficult to choose a favourite when there is a new             Pokemon at each turn.❞

   “Is it? Well, here’s a belated welcome to the coolest region ever!” Mei jokes, tipping an invisible hat towards the other.

   Visiting a new region is pretty full on. She’s experienced it firsthand herself a few times now. Though, she never considered the new pokemon to be the part that overwhelmed her--- nor the struggle of choosing a favorite. At that, she laughs.

   “I’ve lived here my whole life and I still don’t have a favorite. I’m biased to my team though.”

          ——but he hadn’t.   && n hated how his heart hurt to see his friend so happy.

                    he smiles.   ❛ nonsense, mei. you’ve done so much for me. for everyone. you’ve helped to save unova——this place that i love. that’s more than enough. ❜

   “... ... Thanks.” Her reply is uncharacteristically short. Mei averts her gaze and scratches the back of her head, energy mellowing out at the hinting towards what had happened in the past. “I won’t deny that but I guess I meant more for you, individually, personally... you know? I mean--- I owe you my life.” She swallows, shaking her head before fixing her posture with a smile.

   Friday briefly hugs Mei rather than nuzzling her, like one might expect. Upon letting go, he stares at N a while before doing the same for him. It had been a while since they last saw each other and now walked different paths but they will always be best friends.

“That can be the case, yeah.” Everyone had some degree of one or the other to some proportion. The Elite nodded with the assurance, then gave another chuckle. “Hyuu, he’s that boy I heard about when…” Grimsley stopped himself mid-sentence. “…Right, the one with spiky blue hair.”

“Oh, well, I guess you’d have to be Psychic to get those right, huh?” Those were a matter of the mind only. Someone like Grimsley could only guess by social and bodily cues. “I’d gander there’s some trick or another the internet’s figured out of that.”

   “You heard about when what?” Mei tilts her head in curiosity, squinting. “Yeah, that’s him.” Since he’s a close friend, she can’t help but be curious about it. That doesn’t necessarily mean she’ll get an answer though.

{ yessss absolutely!! mei cares about N a whole whole lot. shes like thats my fuckin hero thanks N fer my life. like if she knew that she hurt Ns feelings shed be feeling real bad dkgjndf theres a lot of respect there. even tho she can be.. a not very serious person on the outside a lot of the time.

Elesa burst into laughter, her body shaking as she laughed. The pun was a good one, and her fondness for puns only made it that much better. 

“That was clever,” she managed to speak between fits of laughter, her hand coming up to cover her mouth as she laughed aloud. “I don’t think I’d be able to come up with something to even top that!”

   Elesa’s laughter is music to her ears. It’s contagious enough to get Mei laughing along with her as well.

   “Thank you!” Mei grins, looking pretty proud of herself. There’s nothing more satisfying that watching a joke land with flying colors. “What can I say? I’m a joke master!” She’s kidding of course but it’s all in good fun.

★      A small dip of her head sent locks of hair rolling along          her frame. Eyes giving a quick blink at the stranger who’d           come from seemingly nowhere.           ❝Oh…. Cute…? Thank you. ❞ 

         ❝Ah, it’s from a shop in Alola. Have you ever visited?❞

   “Yeah, cute, I can guarantee it. You’re welcome!” It’s only the truth, really. She just can’t seem to keep those kind of compliments to herself. 

                                 “ Huh— that’s some pretty sweet advise actually… But, what if the lemon tree won’t grow? What then? Aren’t you just out of lemons and then you have nothing. “ What a great way to make a new friend, totally destroy their hopes and dreams without even realizing it.

  “Thank you, I try.” Mei nods, resting a hand underneath her chin as the other continues. “Wow. You’re real down on your luck, huh? I’ve been there.” Though the wording isn’t the most sentimental in the world, her feelings about it are genuine.

   “In that case, you’ve got one of two problems. Either you’re a bad gardener and you’ve got to practice and educate yourself... Or... You’ve planted your lemons at the wrong time, in the wrong place.” It’s weird how far the lemon analogy can go and still be accurate. “Plants don’t grow all year round, so if you pick the wrong season then it won’t work--- and there’s some soil that nothing can grow in.”
