“I thought the whole point of being your taste-tester was that I didn’t have to try making anything myself,” Cal joked. The truth was he was looking forward to having something sweet to munch on. Holiday season was like cheat day every day, and besides, candy apples were still half healthy because of the apple half… right?
“I know we’ve at least gotta be making some weird Ducky version of this stuff. What about candy-corn apples? You know, with the three colors? Unless that would look lame or whatever.”

Ducky smiled, playfully tapping Cal's nose once before going to pick up the tray of dipping candy she'd left warming on the stove. "Close but not quite. Not only are we not making weird versions of anything, but they're also absolutely not going to be candy corn style. Blech" She carefully set the tray down and began to point out the uses of each different bowl. "Original red, because duh. Purple with sparkles for galaxy apples, green and black for poison apples, and then pastel blue and white marble because I thought it was cute."

It’s so odd that today is the first actual beginning of Autumn when it feels as though everyone’s been buying Pumpkin Spice and pre-celebrating Halloween for weeks now. I wonder if it’s Friday the 13th’s fault why I can’t decide between keeping the traditional fall themed treats on display or skipping to the one’s for Halloween a week early.
Personally, I think going full-pumpkin too early is a bad move. How are you ever supposed to win a giant pumpkin competition if you pick it before it’s had time to fully grow? How are you supposed to win a pumpkin carving contest if your pumpkin’s too small to carve something super intricate into? How are you supposed to make the biggest mess smashing pumpkins if… you get the point, right? You’re wasting so much pumpkin potential, just give them until October to breathe.
I'm sorry, what? I'm not going do anything else with pumpkins for Halloween. Other than maybe some jack-o-lantern cookies and Pumpkin pies, but even then I'll be using the pumpkin puree I've been using since the end of August when we started selling PSL cakes, cupcakes and muffins. There aren't going to be any giant pumpkin competitions, carving contests or pumpkin smashings at all.
