Hello, fellow Ugly Betty fans!

Valentine's Day is coming up, and everyone needs more love in their life, right?

Well, there's a couple of us Detty fan-girls who have decided to do a fan-fiction story writing challenge in celebration of Valentine's Day, and our fave Ugly Betty couple, Daniel Meade & Betty Suarez - or DETTY!

Apparently it used to be all the rage back in the day for fandom communities to do fic exchanges, or writing challenges, so we thought it could be fun. We also wanted to invite any other fans to join in!

Whether you believe that Daniel and Betty were meant to be together as the best of friends, or as much more than friends (they totally fell in love, got married, had kids and took the international publishing world by storm, okay? Haha), there's no denying that their relationship was built on a deep love and trust, and they helped each other to be better.

So, if you would like to write a story to participate, the requirements are:

* Post your story on AO3 (archive of our own) sometime in the next few days (preferably by Valentine's Day itself - Feb 14 2025, but we're all busy and it is short notice, so whenever you have time, okay?)

* Word count under 2,500 words.

* The story needs to be set somewhere within the Ugly Betty show canon (seasons 1-4).

* Valentine's Day theme to the story, featuring Daniel Meade & Betty Suarez.

And just for fun, the story must include these specific things:

* A description of just how blue Daniel Meade's eyes are.

* Amanda Tanen gossiping about something.

* There has to be a kiss of some sort (whether it's romantic or not, hahaha).

* A line from a song, somewhere in the story.

In honour of the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Plaza being lit today, I thought I'd repost the link to my Ugly Betty Christmas fan-fiction story that I wrote last year. I wish I could see the tree myself, it would be so magical!

'She Was A Snowy Day' - My husband basically describes this story as being like a corny Hallmark Christmas film. It's fun, it's schmaltzy, it's sweet, it will make you smile, and grow your heart three sizes bigger! Set in the world of Ugly Betty (season 2), with Daniel and Betty spending a day in New York, being all Christmassy together, and experiencing all the hope and magic of the season.
