“If they have, let me know and we’ll take them back,” Hope shrugged.  Theft wasn’t going to stand in her city at the best of times, much less when they were trying to feed people.  “Octavia?  Yeah, of course.  It’ll be good for her - she’s still getting used to her position here and the chance to hang out with you should help.”  Hope nodded.  “Perfect.  Thanks for coming by with the idea, and we’ll have you up and running as soon as possible.”

Once he got the nod that Octavia could come with him, he didn’t really need anything else. It was enough to get him started. “I’ll let you know if I have any problems,” he confirmed. 

“I let my guard down and my best friend beat my father within an inch of his life and then, I tried to do something for myself and my twin sister got turned into a vampire. A five minute break might not kill anybody else, uncle Damon – but it might kill me.” Josie sighed within frustration, rubbing her digits against her temple in an attempt to expel some of the tension residing there. “But that doesn’t matter, because I can’t get to my dad until this thing is gone.” The young siphon extended her palm, before pushing it firmly against the dome and watching as her palm glowed a warm scarlet, “I have to do this.” 

“Alright, time out,” he said, making the ‘T’ symbol with his hands. “I’m going to need you to really hear me on this, okay? Because your dad isn’t here to tell you, and I have lived ALOT longer than you, so i’m going to need you to trust me on this. Nothing that has happened here is your fault,” he told her. “Nothing,” he repeated. “Bad things happen and they will have happened no matter what you were doing, no matter how hard your tired to stop it, or what in your life you think you could have given up to make that happened. It is NOT your fault.” He tucked a hair behind her ear. “And your dad, he is the strongest, most stubborn human I know, so when we do get out of here, he will be right there waiting for you. Like nothing happened.”

Octavia squeezed his hand in return as they started to walk, glad to hear him say that he didn’t mind.  She wasn’t the kind of girl who clung to her parents, but in that moment she was willing to forego her pride for the sake of his company and the physical comfort of his hand.  “Really?” she forgot all about the evening’s events as she studied his face.  “What’d you have in mind?”

“I’ll let it be a surprise,” he said as they rounded the corner for him to see the building. “But he will help with the food situation.” He was not about to let his daughter get threatened over something like that. “In here,” he said, opening the door to the large restaurant. The boxes and supplies were already being moved in under Hope’s instructions. And Damon turned on the lights. He guided Octavia in first before looking back to her. “The only thing this place needs... is a name.”

with everything going on or in other words: with everything going to hell. davina could not help but attempt to silently follow the stranger into the abandoned restaurant. she must have not been as stealth as she thought she was, because the tall dark-haired man suddenly turned to face her. she was startled but attempted to hide it with a snarky response. typical davina. “ naming a place after yourself? “ dramatic pause. “ kind of self-conceited and unoriginal, don’t you think? “

“I don’t know, my sister in law seems to think it was a good name for a school,” he joked. Not that he was complaining but that seemed like an even bigger thing to be self-conceited about. “I just have to hope my daughters come up with something.” 

“So you’ve just always been a master of timing then,” Octavia confirmed with a shaky laugh.  Already intrigued and happy for the distraction from what had happened, she nodded eagerly.  “Long as you don’t mind me holding your hand for a little while.”  She liked to think of herself as too grown up for that, but…she needed it, all the same.

“Maybe,” he said. Though he didn’t feel like it. He looked down and took her hand in his. “I’m never too old for that,” he said softly. After all he had been trying to do his best at giving his kids space, but honestly, sending them into the world when he knew what it was like. It was terrifying. “I know we have all been a little worried about this whole... food and dome situation,” he said as they walked. “But I think i have something for that.” A restaurant. It would also be something that he could do as a human. He just needed a name.  

he  began  with  a  sigh  .   ❛   just    follow   the   rules   and   your   family   will  be   fine   .      ❜     vincent   had   enough   guilt   to   last   him   a   lifetime    after   putting   the   people   in   the   city   in   danger   .   having   the    dead   brought   back   had   enough   consequence   then   he   had   known   what   to   do   with   .   so,    there  was   no   way   he   was   going   to   send   a   human   to   do   his   dirty   work      .      ❛   i   think   we   got   it   from   here  .     ❜     he   breathed    .  

Damon chuckled. “See, I would love to say yes and do that. But I think this is the part where I need to say that Josie is my niece. Alaric is my best mate. My daughter had been pulled in with this crescent wolf pack and I have never been very good at staying out of trouble. Plus I already fought the devil and a few Mikaelsons. How much worse can it be?” Though at least then he was a vampire. “So really I just need to know enough to keep my people safe.”

Josie shook her head within protest, attempting to will him into understanding “this isn’t reckless – this is literally life or death for so many people that I care about.” The return of the conversation to Elena and her wrath had Josie relaxing slightly and she shifted the weight of her frame from one hip to the other before her defiant expression soon returned, “that’s what I need to try and find out. What kind of magic is powering this thing and that way I might know how to take it down.” The young siphon hesitated, her brow creasing before eventually she stated, “it’s only a matter of time before things turn ugly inside here. We need to figure this out sooner rather than later.” 

“I’m just saying, if you wanted to take a 5 minute break, no one is going to die,” he said before he moved back and let her go up to the dome. No bothering to stop her after that. “Though when your father asks me, I’m going to have to tell him that there was no other way to do this,” he said. Even though he was sure there was. He waited for as he looked back around them. “Things are ugly alot of the time, even before this dome.”

       ❝ she’s a mikaelson, what did you expect? ❞ rebekah spoke honestly, looking at the other. hearing his question about kids, she just offered him a shrug. ❝ eventually yes, but right now i’m content just being with my husband. ❞

He chuckled at her words. “I don’t know, a little more death if you ask me,” he joked. The Mikaelson’s really knew how to make a mess. “And maybe a party.” He nodded. “Well not that I think a Mikaelson needs the advice but Elena and I do have a few contacts now in the foster system, if you did want to give a foster kid all this,” he said, waving around them. “Though might be worth waiting till at least this war is over.”

“A big space with room for a garden,” Hope repeated, considering their options.  “I think I know a few.”  Searching the ruins of her desk, she found a pen and paper and wrote down a few names for him before handing the paper over.  “Check those ones out - the last one doesn’t have space for a garden but it does have an empty building right next to it that could serve the purpose.  Especially if we make a hydroponic one in there.  A couple of the guard can take you around to them and see what works for you.”  Hope was silent a moment before adding a final comment.  “Thank you for thinking of this.  I’m sure we can work something out.”

“Lets hope no ones stole all the hydroponic supplies yet,” he joked slightly. “I’d prefer one of them to be my daughter,” he said, given that she had been pulled in with the pack here and the fact they were with Hope. He nodded when she thanked him. “All good, kid,” he said softly, wondering how close to the top those emotions really where. “I’ll let you know what I find,” he said, taking the list from her.   

There weren’t many options in terms of escape, and Octavia was still weighing whether any of them would work when her attacker crumpled to the ground, clearly unconscious.  There was only a moment to let out a breath before she was pulled into her father’s arms, and she clung tightly to him as the adrenaline began to fade and left her shaky and in need of comfort.  “I’m okay,” she promised, words muffled by the way her face was tucked into his neck.  “I’m glad you have good timing though.”

       ❝ oh believe me, i know. ❞ she teased playfully, recalling the many times that bonnie had been there to save damon’s ass. hearing his comment about adopting kids, elena laughed softly but shook her head. ❝ the middle of a supernatural war isn’t the best time to acquire new children. ❞ she admitted with a shrug. she listened as he talked about the cure running through their blood stream and she couldn’t help but sigh. ❝ i won’t say i haven’t thought about it. ❞ she knew her answer was bound to shock him, given how insistent she’d been about becoming human, but now she had kids to think about.

“No, but it did make me wonder,” he admitted. “Do you when the dead came back... it has an age limit?” He knew it wasn’t possible. For an age limit to be in place, but at the same time the idea of children being returned from the dead and running around this city. That felt worse. “Though just so you know, I’m about to do something, not completely smart to make sure we are good here,” he said. He titled his head to the side when she spoke. “You wouldn’t say that? And what would you say?”

Caroline winced at the name, walking into the empty restaurant and looking around. “Only if you’re planning on serving really cheesy traditional italian food. Because Salvatores sounds like a pizza joint run by someone called Big Al.” 

“Okay that is just cruel,” he said. “You know I make great pizza and that heads will roll if anyone calls anyone Big Al,” he said, looking around. “Plus I can’t called it the Mystic Grill. So all the good names are taken,” he joked. “Also should I comment about your naming of that boarding school?”
