His primary vice is that he could not be everywhere at once, and sometimes he ended up not seeing his family for long periods of time. He succumbed to chemical burns from Ancalagon’s blood a few days after killing him, and was back within the week.

The silmaril itself and the circlet it was set in have kind of integrated into his forehead over time, and he can’t take it off anymore. The circlet is a silvery pattern on his forehead, and the Silmaril is part of his skull.
