Once you start seeing how often women are used as shock absorbers in our society, you'll never stop seeing it. It happens in every way, emotionally, physically and sexually.
Just think, how many men come home and take shit out on their wife? How many men with violent tendencies take it out on prostituted women? how girls are put in classes with rowdy boys at the expense of their own studies, how many women are in the service industry, at call centers, how high the domestic violence rates of police officers is, how many women bend over backwards to take on the emotional needs of men, the list goes on and on

He wants to laugh at the irony, he really does, as he lets Potter brand his arm and override the dark mark with a new one.

(hey i managed to finish this just in time for valentine!) i’ve been listening to some harry/draco audiofics and was inspired to paint a little something as thanks to the hp fandom, since i can’t actually write and all. Thank you guys for your work!
Drarry Synastry: Enemies to Friends/Lovers (HP Astro #10)
Be it friendship (I do love a good Draco-Harry friendship) or romance (I know there are lots of Drarry lovers out there!), how do these two get along? And where do they connect?
Read also: Astrology Introduction, Harry, Draco.
Exhibit A (I say, as if I have another exhibit to show you.)
On an energy level, Draco and Harry's Big Three (sun, moon, and rising) have it...pretty good, actually, when you think of "classic compatibility." Sun: Gemini and Leo; air feeds fire. Moon: both in Pisces. Ascendants: Cancer and Scorpio; both water signs.
Sun is our core. Their cores can get along. Moon is our emotions, our subconscious. It's the same energy feeding them both emotionally. Rising, is how we react, and how we are perceived. Easy flowing water there. Sun to sun, moon to moon, there's potential; but no actual aspects.
Where we do see an aspect in the Big Three are Harry's moon trining Draco's ascendant. Trines mean harmony. There is mutual understanding and appreciation, Draco for Harry's innermost feelings, and Harry for Draco's expressiveness. This is all the more telling since Draco's ascendant is Cancer, which is ruled by the moon. This lends Draco an extra boost of lunar energy, giving him empathy and intuition with which to comfort and support Harry.
It's not all sunshine and roses, though. Harry's moon squares Draco's Venus, meaning tension between Harry's emotional needs and Draco's social/romantic needs. It happens to be an exact square, giving a little extra oomph to that kick. This implies emotional baggage (moon's connection to not only emotions, but history and roots) on Harry's end, and issues of self-worth (Venus) on Draco's.
Knowing what we know of them, we can imagine that it is their individual selves clashing. Harry's past issues cropping up, effects of the abuse and trauma he's endured. Draco's issues linked to family expectation and poor reputation. And, together, a negative shared history from boyhood antagonism.
But while squares mean stress, it isn't necessarily bad. This just means they have to work to communicate and reconcile any issues that arise. And by overcoming that together, will make their bond all the stronger.
Speaking of Venus, the good news is: their Venuses are conjunct. Essentially, they're on the same wavelength socially/romantically. Both have Venus in Gemini. There are shared interests and hobbies (Venus' link to leisure and sociability), shared ideas and views (Venus' link to harmony, balance, beauty), and values in relationships (...Venus' link to relationships, obviously.)
Harry's Mars trines Draco's sun. Harry is open in expressing (action, Mars) his desire (sex, Mars) for Draco, while Draco inspires (sun) Harry. With Harry's Mars in Libra, I imagine he is quite sweet and affectionate. And with Draco's Gemini sun, it is Draco's cleverness and playfulness that inspires and attracts Harry.
Moon square Mercury...Issues in communicating, and reconciling, emotions (Harry) and thoughts (Draco.) There are barriers that keep them from understanding one another. Harry likely feels vulnerable while Draco feels frustrated.
Which is interesting when you take into account Harry's Mercury conjunct Draco's ascendant. When emotions aren't clouding their vision, their communication runs smoothly. Harry is able to see Draco's thought patterns and articulate them, even when Draco can't. Draco's awareness influences Harry's ideas, while Harry's ideas influence Draco's view of himself. Both are in Cancer, giving a reserved, but intuitive, lean on matters.
Cancer can be moody, and maudlin. Emotional, vulnerable, protective, and nurturing. This colors how Draco appears to others, and how he reacts to the world (ascendant), and how Harry interacts (Mercury.) Harry senses that kindred Cancerian spirit in Draco, even if Draco is either blind to it (willfully, or due to distraction), and/or Draco is trying to hide it (again: Cancerian reservedness, defensiveness.) And Harry can teach (Mercury) Draco a thing or two about himself.
Now, looking at the houses...this gets interesting. Harry's sun (self) is in Draco's First House (...self.) Planets represent "what", and are parts of us, whereas the houses represent "where" matters take place...so the best differentiation would be...Harry's sun is the inner self, and Draco's First House is the outer self. To simplify matters.
Anyway. Harry's sense of self meets Draco's appearance of self. They can't help but notice each other, be aware of each other (this explains a lot.) This also represents a desire for approval. (Think: the handshake.) Matters don't work in their favor, due to circumstance, but even then there was a deeper need in them both. A need for connection.
They were only children when they met. Harry had just had his eyes opened to the truth. He was seeking knowledge, experience, and connection. He'd been neglected, abused, and lied to his whole life. This new world held so much promise and potential.
For Draco, I think, there might have been a bit of wanting status. Part of this is familial expectation, but part of it is desire to be part of something. Draco is sociable (Gemini sun and Venus) and tender-hearted (Pisces moon, Cancer Rising and Mercury.) He has an inner need for friendship and community (Eleventh House Sun.)
But should they move past their differences, and take the time to truly see one another, they move onto agreeableness, and even affection. Harry, being his lovable self, energizes and stimulates (sun) Draco, and pushes him to self-awareness (recall that Mercury conjunct Ascendant bit above?) Meanwhile, Draco reacts (ascendant) to Harry in ways that make him feel seen and valued.
Meanwhile, Draco's sun (his self) is in Harry's Seventh House: his House of Relationships. This is quite a powerful place to be! But power doesn't always equate to good. This is actually a pretty strong indication of a love/hate relationship. There is a feeling of completeness here. Parts of the self are intensified within the relationship. But the lines can be blurred, and they can lose themselves in the relationship, identities twisted and molded. This creates the potential for codependency (if contented), or competition (if fighting for individuality.) It can be a bit of a balancing act for them to maintain harmony with each other, and harmony within themselves.
Draco's moon (emotions) are in Harry's Third House (communication); easy dialogue for emotions; Draco has the ability to console Harry, and is sensitive to everything he says and does. Harry's moon (emotions) are in Draco's Tenth House (social status.) Draco looks up to, and adores Harry (reputation, authority.) But their relationship is also on public display (social standing; Harry's fame), both affection and discord. There is a sense of expectation here, too. Expectations of Draco to be with Harry; and expectations of Harry to maintain the status quo, as his own status greatly impacts Draco's life.
While there is tension between them, once they work through their past, the future seems to promise ease. Ease is, of course, not always a good thing. Ease can mean stagnation, and boredom; or it can mean comfort, and contentedness.
However you like to ship them, be it platonic or romantic, there's plenty there to work with! I definitely love the idea of them having a relationship, even if I generally view it as more platonic. There is so much room there for them to lean on one another, and work together. And, if given the chance, they could become quite close. And once there, I think it's for life...whatever form that takes.
What is your biggest unpopular opinion about the series?
hm. not sure because i feel like no matter how fringe the opinion it will be popular in one corner of the fandom or other. However, I'll go with my opinion on the Sectumsempra incident. I feel that it is not as big a deal as it's made out to be in some corners of the fandom and the bad thing about isn't what people focus on and also it's not even the most morally questionable thing Harry does in the series by a long shot.
I think some people tend to treat it as something Harry did with knowledge and intent, when he didn't. He didn't even use the spell because he dislikes Draco. He did it in a frantic moment of self defense when the first few spells he tried didn't work and he was shouting the first thing that came to mind. The terrible thing is that he was very cavalier about trying out unknown magic. The actual context he used it in - self defense agains a probable Death Eater who was attacking him and had escalated to Unforgivables - is actually pretty understandable. However, had he not walked in on Draco the probable victim of his spell would have been Cormac Mclaggen, who he had actually intended to test it on due to his dislike of him. This is hugely irresponsible, as was his decision to test another spell on Ron. (Though we must remember that his education has not stressed the potential risks of using unknown spells on people.)
Harry didn't know what the spell did and used it only in response to an attack and only after several of his other spells didn't work (btw shoutout to the fact that Draco actually lasted longer in a duel with Harry than any other character in the series except Snape). People sometimes put it into the real world context of a fight between people at school getting out of hand to the point one person nearly dies. But that's not what happened. This is a heightened fantasy context of two people who are now literally on opposite sides of a war getting into a serious fight. Also, although people say Harry didn't feel bad he actually was absolutely horrified by what he has done, so much so that he completely lost his composure in the moment which is a very atypical reaction for him, even in dangerous or upsetting situations. And then he subsequently completely stops investigating Draco even though the fight and what Draco says right before it further substantiate Harry's theories about Draco.
The really notable thing to me is how upset Harry is when Draco is hurt - to the point that he freezes up and panics, which is one of the only times he reacts that way in a high stress situation - and how it is Pansy and not Draco who vilifies Harry. It's also really interesting that Harry could have probably gotten himself out of trouble by mentioning that Draco was saying some super incriminating stuff and then attacked him and tried to use an Unforgivable Curse on Harry (which remember, carries a life sentence in prison). But even though Harry previously brought concerns about Draco to McGonagall, during the whole time she apparently yelled at him over this incident he never brought any of these extenuating circumstances. Given that Lucius is already in jail and the Malfoys have lost their standing in mainstream wizarding society (as well as among Death Eaters) Harry's accusation would probably have been taken seriously and he might well have been able to land Draco in jail. However, instead when Harry sees the vulnerable position Draco is in he backs off.
So yeah Harry definitely made a horrible mistake in this scene, but I see it more as drarry fodder than as evidence of him being a vicious psychopath.
Were this anyone but Draco, I can't imagine Harry reacting in a similar way. I mean, imagine him walking in on some other Death Eater saying a bunch of incriminating stuff and then getting attacked by that Death Eater and injuring the Death Eater more than he intended while acting in self defense. (Remember in book 5 Hermione was the one who had to stop him cursing the Death Eater whose head was de-aged to a baby.)
And the other weird thing is that Harry does other more morally grey things. In book 2 he makes Lockhart go first into the Chamber. If the Basilisk was waiting there he would have been killed. In a moment of anger in book 6 he chokes Mundungus so hard he starts turning blue, and never feels bad about it or apologizes. In book 7 he won't attack Stan with Stunners but he does use them on other Death Eaters, which presumably risks killing them. (There's also his use of the Cruciatus Curse in book 7 which I personally find to be a dumb and ooc scene added for a silly reason and thus just don't count as canon even though it could have been a super interesting moment if done well; but if you do count it, that's wayyy darker than the book 6 scene). I love Harry but he's not just an uwu soft cinnamon roll though I don't think he's an evil psychopath like some parts of fandom do either. He does make some morally grey choices that make his character interesting and complex and flawed, but the bathroom fight in book 6 really isn't one of them imho.
can we acknowledge the fact that Ginny considered an 11 year old a possible romantic threat when she was visibly upset by Fleur’s little sister smiling at Harry at the wedding like wtf
book 6 and 7 ginny is petty and jealous and plain mean. book 5 ginny was so much more likable and also a much more fleshed out character. jkr did her so dirty. as soon as she became the love interest tm she got a personality transplant. (hilarious tho from a drarry that her becoming harry's perfect girl involved her becoming a mean bully like draco...even tho i think those aren't the traits in draco that harry liked and draco would have to change his behavior before he and harry could get together).

I just can’t believe we’re not supposed to see any deeper meaning in Harry using Draco’s wand successfully to kill the Big Bad in a series where The Power of Love canonically conquers all
We’re not supposed to, but it’s there. J. K. Rowling really went and accidentally wrote a seven book epic drarry fic.
Not just the Hawthorn wand, but the Elder Wand too. Both of the wands used in that duel were Draco’s before they were Harry’s. Both of those wands worked better for him than any other wand available to him. Harry comes into physical possession the Elder Wand with the ‘unerring skill of a Seeker’ after being first introduced to Quidditch by Draco Malfoy and only got onto the team to hone those Seeker skills because of Draco Malfoy and his main rival was Draco Malfoy and if Draco wasn’t playing than Quidditch meant nothing to him. Voldemort’s penultimate words on this earth were about Draco Malfoy and Harry’s penultimate words in the duel were about Draco Malfoy. The loyalty of both of Draco’s former wands were literally the deciding factor in the final line in the prophecy about who died at the hands of the other in a world where the wandlore connected to both of them tells us that they should never have worked for Harry at all and yet they did but we’re not supposed to take any deeper meaning from this.
#I will never get over how the terf queen literally wrote THE queer romance completely by accident#the power the dark lord knows not was literally Drarry and the fact that that’s canon continues to just blow my fucking mind via @reddherring3
Legit cannot believe that the entire purpose of the seven book long Quidditch plotline was for Draco Malfoy to give Harry the ability and skill to take physical possession of the most powerful wand in the world in the final battle against Voldemort and we’re not supposed to take deeper meaning from this.

Draco and Hermione on the train, Fan art for Chapter 68 of Lionheart by @greenerteacups . This scene! Wow.
“Before she had time to find her head, he took her waist and pulled her into him and kissed her back. Her hands on his neck were cold and insistent and pulling him down as he pulled her up, like a mermaid drawing him down into dark, warm waters. The snow-capped crag of the moors vanished. Annihilated by disinterest. He bent her back over his arm and kissed her the way he’d wanted to yesterday and last week and all year and possibly forever, nudging open her mouth and locking it into his, moving together like they’d been doing it for years. She was shaking and had one hand in his hair, gripping it and the front of his shirt like she was backed over a cliff and for some reason that made sense, it all made sense, for once there was nothing in his body that didn’t make perfect, spectacular, brilliant sense.”

reunion sex is on the mind today; love making that is tender and all consuming — his hands remember each and every part of your body and take you in slowly. there’s no need to rush even with all the time that has passed in between the two of you. he wants to engrave his love into you once again, over and over and over again. never wants you to forget how much he loves you, even if you’re apart for so long. he’ll always love you and he wants you to know it
and there’s desperate reunion sex as well, of course; his eager hands cup your face and the kiss that he gifts you is overflowing with love — dripping down your chin, chest, in between your thighs. his every word feels breathless, his forehead presses against yours as if his thoughts could melt into you — i love you, i missed you, i want you, i need you
The miraculous appearance of the Magical Mistletoe at the Yule Ball was a real gift for Draco Malfoy and a chance to change everything. The absence of any doubt in his eyes and the determined willingness to cling to her lips in a kiss literally shocked Hermione and, presumably, everyone present at the ball, too ☺️
