short interview from Japanese movie magazine “Eiga Hihou”

interviewer : Welcome to Japan! (handed previous issue to them)

Dean: Oh Godzilla! 

interviewer:  Please take this one for souvenir! Did you two’s life changed after The Hobbit?

Aidan: Definitely! It was huge scale movies and people all over the world watched it. I got lots of offer and scripts had been sent more than before. The Hobbit open the door and as an actor much easier than before. It was wonderful thing to happened to me. And came to Japan and meet lot of fans who knows me is great fan. All of that because of The Hobbit.

Dean : My life completely changed. I came to work overseas and I came to attend at many conventions, to meet various people. However I still live in New Zealand so I may not change very much.

interviewer: Aidan, did you think Kili grows that handsome character through the trilogy?

Aidan: Hahaha, no way! I didn’t think that he gets that attention much. Kili’s less beard and hairs than others so it’s more like a myself, more human than dwarf. You can see that there’s a lots of prosthetic in early stages but it’s removed because it’s not necessary. I was lucky because I was able to perform without wearing a too many thing and close to myself. 

interviewer: i heard you two are close in private

Dean: Yeah, We spent two years and a half together every day during the The Hobbit shooting. We got along so well and became so close. Though we couldn’t see each other often these days. Last time we see other was in LA, three mouth ago.

interviewer: That’s pretty recently(laughs).  How about you Aidan? to see Dean again?

Aidan: Amazing! To seeing Dean is one of the reason me come to Hollycon! Of course there’s other reasons because of Tokyo is great city and people here is great and Hollycon staff is wonderful but more than anything spend time with Dean is the best thing I couldn’t be happier. He lives in New Zealand I’m Ireland so we don’t have much chance to see each other. 

Dean: I’m so happy too(laughs). It’s rare opportunity to spend some time together.

Aidan: Coming all the way to here with Dean and warmly welcomed is really great. it’s big bonus to me!

interviewer: So Dean, you played Kirk Douglas in “Trumbo”. How’s that?

Dean: Oh I heard it on theatre right now here in Japan. It was a huge challenge to me. But there’s a lots of his books and films so I could study a lot to create the role.  It’s huge challenge but great experience to work with amazing people. I had to give result with every effort. 

Very enthusiastic and high tensioned little brother Aidan and calm, intellectual, big brother-like Dean. I hats off to Peter Jackson for his keen sense of casting, to saw this chemistry between them. It was short but really fun interview and after this they back to photo session and autograph session with fans. They’re really in good mood.

The person who asked them for this, she’s an amazing artist. And on the 2nd day, she went to them with this beautiful art.  Both Dean and Aidan was so excited to see this amazing art of them.

First she went to Dean’s autograph and handed a Japanese calligraphy-brush pen for autograph and Dean liked the pen so much that she gave it to him. Also she gave this art to him and Dean’s so excited. 

And then she went to Aidan’s, Aidan was doing something with staff, and then Dean came to Aidan and show this beautiful art he got to Aidan. Looking at it Aidan’s got so excited that he stood up from chair to take a pictures of it(and she said that Dean using his arm to cover the light so Aidan could take good pictures. That’s sweet of him). Of course when finally Aidan done with takes pictures she handed the art to him too, and he praised her art made her “I died right then and there”. 

When Aidan was ready for sign,the first thing he did was dragged his table close to Dean’s.
