"I didn’t mean to — I wasn’t assuming anything, I promise you. Forgive me if that’s how it came across."
Only fools speak before they think Anthem, remember that. It will do wonders for you, I assure you. Yes, thank you brain. Perhaps you could have told me this a bit sooner.
"Perhaps, we could become each other’s friend? I could definitely use more than the few I have right now. And if you’d like, we could do this.” His hands spread out towards the park. "I think the term is ‘hang out?’ Yes, hang out more? But only if that’s something you think would be nice. I’ve never been one to pressure a young woman into doing anything she doesn’t want to. That’s like trying to make a horse jump a hedge when they don’t want to. It’s not going to happen no matter how hard I nudge.”
He smiles lightly, hoping his offer of friendship is taken. It’s only been a short time since they’ve met of course, but he feels as if Ayako is someone he must keep in contact with. If Anthem had the gift his youngest sister had, to see lifeforce, he was sure that Ayako’s would be vibrant. Picking his water bottle back up, he takes a quick chug, mentally reminding himself not to choke on the liquid as he glances away.
.
Ayako stared at him. Was he really offering friendship to her? Her eyes sparkled as she smiled and she nodded quickly in obvious happiness at the turn of events. Of course, she was drawn to more than only friendship with him, but she pushed that thought from her mind and leaned closer to him regardless. She liked being close to him. Something about Anthem gave her a sense of security she hadn't felt since moving away from her father.
"I'd like that... being friends. I want that."
She felt her cheeks burning, and it caused her to look down at her hands instead, suddenly embarrassed over her own excitement. Ayako was eager to even be near him, and the prospect of spending more time with Anthem made her feel almost giddy inside, though she tried her very best to hide it. It was almost as if she could flat out kiss him on the spot, just for being so accepting of her. She kept herself from doing anything of the sort, though, and almost shuddered at the image in her head of that very happening.
Instead, she looked back up at him with a curious expression. "How would I get in touch with you to hang out?" she asked with a slight pout. Ayako had the most basic phone since she wasn't like others her age who spent a majority of their time attached to their devices. She only ever used it to call her father, and that was only twice a week at best.

A lot of these are extremely old replies so if you'd like to drop whatever thread we have, I'm perfectly okay with that. I apologize for the lateness and hopefully will get them all finished soon.

My character is dead and yours is playing with a Ouija board. Send me a "↝" for the short phrase my character would guide your character’s hands to spell.
How sad.
Ayako was someone Anthem had longed to get to know just a little bit better. Anything more would have been nice, anything at all. Sadly, fate had made the decision for him.
To see that she had summoned him though? It made him smile. If he still had a heart, it would probably be beating out of his chest at the realization that this beautiful girl wanted to try to speak to him, even after his death.
Death however, doesn’t get rid of awkwardness.

Anthem admired the way Ayako looked in her ball-gown. Her back was exposed just enough that as he made sure his grip was firm, he could allow his fingers to dance along her skin. In another setting, his move might seem bold; on the dance floor no one cared.
“You look very handsome.” Her words were a whisper, but they seemed to warm him to the core.
“You look, stunning.” Smiling at her, his eyes appeared dark yet still thrumming with life in the candlelight. “I’m blessed to be here with the woman I care for. I mean…”
Well then…

Strangers on a Train --- SCM & AA
It’s strange, really, how comfortable a person can become with someone they’ve never even spoken to. As his shoulder comes into contact with the woman beside him, Changmin doesn’t even flinch. There is no awkward moment of apology, there are no weird death glares that one might receive from a random passersby. Instead, the two are able to ignore it. It’s actually kind of nice, now that he thinks about it. This rather pretty woman has been someone he’s seen almost every single day since beginning to regularly take this train and Changmin has to admit to himself that it’s a lot better than sitting next to some creepy old hag every day. He glances down at his watch as he notices her fixing her hair out of the corner of his eye, running his tongue over his lower lip. Should he say something? Perhaps today he should. Just a simple hello, or nice weather we’re having. Yet, all he does is tilt his head and smile at her.
Okay, so still maybe he’s kind of awkward. That’s unavoidable.
Ayako opened her purse in her lap and looked down inside, digging through the large bag for her wallet to make sure she remembered to add the money she needed for the day. Her brow furrowed as she began frantically searching, panic beginning to set in as she realized it wasn't where she thought it would be. She hoped she'd only left it at her apartment, but she had the sinking suspicion she might have dropped it on her way out, or worse, that it could have fallen from her bag somewhere in the station. With a groan, she glanced down to the floor on one side of her legs, then the other, between her seat companion's feet and her own. It might have rolled across the car by now, she thought to herself with a deep-set frown. It wasn't so much about losing the minimal amount of money she had inside, or her identification, but the wallet was a gift from her father, and the thought of losing it seemed to make holes form inside her chest. Slamming one side of her purse against the other, she squished it down against her lap and scooted closer to her neighbor to check her seat, then mirrored the action with the opposing side, a soft sigh leaving her lips at the sight of the thin blue item, just barely wedged beneath the man's thigh.
Clearing her throat, she pointed down between them but avoided actually making eye contact as she spoke. "Pardon? Would you mind?" Her cheeks flushed instantly, as it was the first time she'd ever uttered a word to him, and she was embarrassed at the scene she'd made seconds before for something that had been there all along.
Strangers on a Train --- SCM & AA
Her shoulder bumped against his as the train car jolted to one side, rounding the curve in the tracks on its way to the next station. It was comfortable, not at all like the way strangers might tense up when they brushed against one another. Ayako's dark locks tickled her neck, a tell-tale sign that her up-do wasn't holding as well as it had when she left her apartment, but she didn't dare sweep it back, afraid the train would jerk again and she would end up punching her silent companion in the face. Instead, she tilted her head to one side and waited for the loose strand to drift back around her neck, then used the other hand to brush it away to the opposite side. Every so often, her eyes would dart to the corners so she could catch a glimpse of the man sitting beside her. His hair was the same color as hers, and she'd often painted him, or a person resembling him, as well as she could from memory. After a nearly a week of riding together and each time he entered the train after, she would smile at him and scoot more to one side, making the space for him to seat himself with her on one of the few double-seat areas in the car, but she'd never gotten the courage to actually speak to him.

Ayako wasn’t paying attention as she entered her apartment, the heavy bags of groceries weighing her down and throwing her off balance as she walked. She struggled to close the door behind her and nearly dropped a bag as she did so. That’s when she saw him. He was lying on his back just outside the living room area, were the small hallway wall divided the space between there and the kitchen. The bags of food fell from her hands, a can of soup exploding all over the floor the instant it hit the ground, and she ran to him, dropping to her knees by his side because, from the distance, she couldn’t see him breathing at all. Leaning down, she pressed her ear to his chest and felt the subtle rise as he took a shallow breath, then as she raised up, she cupped his cheek, her fingers brushing from his temple downward as tears tried their best to dampen her face. Ayako pushed herself up and ran into the kitchen, wetting a towel and wringing it out on her way back, not caring if she splashed water in her path. She pulled Anthem into her arms, up onto her lap, and gently patted the cloth across his forehead, unable to speak and not knowing what to say as she tried to wake him.

Red. It was all she could see, on the floor, on his clothes. Ayako instantly detested the color as she tried to pick him up and drag him inside, after he’d somehow managed to carry himself up to her apartment door. Grunting quietly, she pulled him through the door and down the hall toward the living room area, but stopped once she propped him against the side of the couch. Blood trailed in a slick line the entire way, but that will have to wait till later, she thought to herself. The least she could do was throw a rug down on the carpet in front of the door in the hallway, to keep her neighbors from asking any strange questions. After locking the door, she ran back inside to the kitchen, filled a large bowl with warm water, and carried it back to the living room, dropping to her knees by the injured man. “This is probably going to hurt… if you can hear me, I’m so sorry,” she murmured as she began removing his shirt so she could clean his wounds.
Happy 'so-late' Christmas to you!
"Ayako. Happy Christmas. I hope you had a good one. How have you been? Pretty sure you’re doing great yes? I have something for you and hopefully you’ll like it." He smiles and hands her a box.
inside the box:
[ ❅ ❅ ]
"I hope you had a good one with your family or friends and whatnot. Take care and have a good day/night!"
- Earl.
Ayako didn't know what to say when he placed the box in her hands, but after a moment, she opens it, slowly and delicately, peeking inside. She smiled and lifted the lid off, taking the hair pins out first and admiring them, then left the bag inside and replaced the lid. "I-- Thank you. I'm very grateful for this, everything is beautiful."
