Right, so I’m not a political blog, and I’m not about to start now. However, the things happening at this moment are wrong. Innocent people are being brutalised by a police force and government based on their colour. It evokes imagery that I hoped I would only have to see in history books, but here we are. I am white. I don’t know what it’s like to not be able to do ordinary things without fearing for my own safety. Protesting is one of those things.Everyone should be able to safely protest. I like making DYI stuff, and this channel has supplied me with many ideas and projects. The particular video here links to a gas mask you can make that should at least somewhat negate the effects of tear gas. In terms of materials all you need is: - A large plastic bottle - Tape - A soda/beer can - Activated charcoal (bought is better, but you can make it yourself too!) - A cotton pad - A rubber band Remember, this is NOT a substitute for an actual gas mask, but this will give you some resistance to tear gas.
