Hey guys! A small post, just so that I have *something* out here after all thatβs happened over the last couple days, I know it was a little confusing especially if you were a casual fan of The Freak Circusβ a lot was happening privately, but I do want you all to know I am doing alright. There were a lot of cultural and language misunderstandings happening from a lot of anglesβ me included! Iβve learned a *lot* in the past few days and have connected with a lot of very kind people from across the fandom and I deeply appreciate everyone who has been patient and understanding.
These kind of things can happen when a piece of media is so multicultural, or at least when many parts of the world are all involved in the fandom. Iβve gotten to learn far more than I ever thought I would from Chinese, Russian, American, Brazilian fans and thensome and I think thatβs for the better. I had admittedly been planning on helping Neko for his social media management for a little while, but this situation proved how important it was for Neko to have some help with his game, and I feel like that work load has been building up for a while, but heβs doing okay! This helped me affirm what his vision of his game and story is and let me help speak where it can be difficult for him, especially because he isnβt a native English speaker!
Operating and interacting with people outside of your own culture and language is scary and hard, especially when there are lots of nuanced and fundamental stuff at play. Soβ¦ so much nuanced stuff at playβ even though we live in the modern age of translators and whatnot they are not perfect!
Again, I donβt intend on this post being very long because I do want to let things settle a little because it has been admittedly a bitβ¦ hectic, but Iβd like to think Iβve come out of this with an appreciation for the fans and people who were patient and kind with me, since I feel like we were all operating on knee-jerk emotions.
It doesnβt change the fact that a lot of people were hurt or said mean things, and I understand if that hurt lingers! I want everyone to reflect on themselves where they can, especially with how much I saw people talking about me with praise while putting down other people, some of them being very close friends of mine. I made mistakes too, I said mean things all the same because I love my friends and want to make sure they are respected and treated properly. But I am one person doing a *lot* and that said, I know plenty of people will probably look at this post or the situation and think itβs pretty silly.
I guess to some it *is* silly, but to me itβs important! The Freak Circus has genuinely made a positive impact on me and gave me so many new friends and a newfound love for my own voice that I didnβt have before, and I think the game, Neko, the vision he holds for it and the fan community itself is all something worth fighting for, especially when the world is such a stressful and scary place for many people right now!
Itβs not world peace or anything like that, but itβs still meaningful!
The post wound up being long regardless (ah, how the ADHD loves to rambleβ¦) but I want everyone to know that things are okayβ Neko is alright, though youβll probably see some updates about an official blog coming out here in the next couple weeks!
In the meantime however, I will be resting and daydreaming about my beautiful hunk of a monster: Doctor /silly
(And also answering a few questions here and there, Iβve gotten a lot <XD)
