Eternal youth

“Hey, dear… I just wanted to, in person, thank you again for the beyond enjoyable evening out to that restaurant. You really didn’t have to buy all those little presents for me afterwards, being in your company is already the biggest gift I’ve ever gotten.”

Groaning at his own corny words, the young man of science plucked his small goatee, a nervous habit. “Guess your sappiness rubbed off on me at last, huh?”

Sighing softly in frustration, the man ran the same hand through his hair.

“Shit, I’m bad with words in the worst possible moments, you let me in only to have to watch me stall and embarrass myself like this… But I have to get these words out…

Isaac, we’ve been together for some time now. We started off in a much different way, with no romantic feelings at all. I was difficult, always annoyed by the tiniest things you did, and I’m frankly rather surprised to still have you by my side now…

I think it’s important to look back and see  how much we changed, how much we re-shaped ourselves and each other. I no longer deny how quickly I fell for you, I was probably pretty head over heels quite early on, still in denial at that time… But I’m glad that I could later muster the courage to ask if you would become my romantic partner, awkward as I was. Heh, history repeating itself…

I have yet another thing to admit to you today, though. I had no idea whether or not it was time yet, so I invited you to an evening to a good restaurant to test the waters, try to see if I could figure out whether you were ready for this. I don’t think I will ever not be a ball of nerves, but…”

Getting down on one knee before the other suddenly, he picked something from a pocket in his lab coat. Before his partner could say anything back, he spoke up again.

“We never quite went over what the whole rejuvenation thing does, right? Well, whether you are truly immortal now or simply young again, you have a long life still ahead of you. And I want to walk that road with you, even if it has no end for either of us… Isaac Genus, you are the most talented, brilliant and passionate man I have ever had the honor to meet and be with. You gave me a second shot at life with your marvelous technology, and you are doing so much for the good of science now, even if you are barely acknowledged. Your decision to keep going despite the lack of appreciation from most, only makes you that much more heroic.”

Finally opening his hands, Parker revealed a small, dark green box. With a very gentle motion, he clicked it open, revealing the intricate silver ring tucked safely in the shiny, green satin filling.

“I adore you, and as long as it can be just us two, I want to spend the rest of my new life with you.

                                     So, will you marry me?”

Isaac immediately stops what he’s currently working on and turns to his partner to listen intently to what he has to say. He smiles and blushes from the compliments woven into Parker’s words, taking a deep breath when the other kneels down before him. His body tenses slightly from anticipation as he listens further, gasping when the small box is opened and the beautiful piece of jewelry is revealed. As soon as Parker finishes asking the question, Isaac sinks down to his level and practically tackles him in a hug, grinning and nodding his head frantically. 

Gently worming out of his lover’s hug, he raised the box again, picking the shiny ring from it’s holder. Grabbing and lifting his partner’s right hand, Parker slowly slipped the precious item onto the man’s ring finger, immediate relief washing over him again as he confirmed the perfect fit. Lifting his lover’s hand further, he tenderly brushed the man’s knuckles with a thumb, before kissing the top of his hand, never breaking eye contact, and gazing happily into his beloved’s beautiful pale blue eyes.

Nin, the animal otherwise known as a “donkey” is simply called an “Ass” in some variations of English. Donkeys aren’t as common here as say cows or fowl, but if you want to be spiteful(don’t be spiteful)/protect your candy bars, maybe you could try recipes with donkey, because donkeys are smart and will find your stash of sweets before you eat it all yourself. I don’t know of any places that serve donkey, but if I find one we could take you and your siblings there to try it out.
